you said you’d always be here –
(* *** is not available)
but I always knew you’d not.
because of all the times I cried for you
you’d be a bit caught up.
(at the tone, please record your message)
of all the times I needed you
I was told to leave a message.
(when you’ve finished recording you may hang up)
and this time I am telling you,
I'm giving up.
and you my friend,
have lost
me.

I am at the peak of the mountain,
I am here
now.
The world around me is endless
but still surrounded by forest.
right now
the rest of the world is gone.
I only have my dancing bare feet,
fearless of the jagged wood beneath me.
I only have the final warmth of the
sunset colors.
the pink lingers for me to have
my moment.
I am here.
I have now.
I will take this moment
with me.

the sun has almost set
the world is turning to another shade
of blue
and gray.
as I sit at the end of the water
I see a bunny make her way from the
forest edge.
I know it’s not her.
I don’t believe in reincarnation.
even if I did
why would she come back another bunny?
and still.
I sit
and smile
and
hope
it’s her.

I’ve come to realize that sudden is better.
Even when I’ve had all the time to face the facts.
I’ve come to realize there’s no such thing as a perfect goodbye.
Because even after you’ve said all you’ve ever wanted to say,
you’ll still be up late
wishing you said
One more thing.

Always make time to say goodbye.
If you love them, let them know.

we get stuck in school and our job routines.
all these days will end, just the same.
and we'll look back barely remembering any of it.
we're living in the past -
the past of our future.
we're living the stories we'll tell our children
and we'll think hard back on -
trying to remember the details.
simple moments full of content, and happiness.
moments when the sun was setting just right, laughing so hard in the car gasping for air.
in no rush -
enjoying the sky, the stars, and the glow that took lightyears to arrive.

I fell in love with you the way I loved the sky.
At first it was instant.
But as I gathered more knowledge,
You took me for surprise.
Even when the sky seemed pretty small after all,
I learned more about your darkness and your stars.
