Arm's Wall
Go sit up all night,
Go sit up on the Arm's wall.

I'm going to take it all in
and think about it all.

The moonlight on the water
striking me in the eye,

Mighty Blue Heron
under intermittent sky.

Ducks knocking back shellfish,
Fuelling up for the flight into fall.

Here I sit, quiet, on a stone,
so glad to be on the Arm's wall.

Setting Things Straight
Sometimes you can't
find any justice anywhere,
oh sure you run into
a little here and a little there.

Just like the heat can
push you out into the cold,
leaving your bones
feeling bought and sold.

We all need love
and I'm no exception,
I can't stand still,
no not for rejection.

All I wanted was a little magic
I didn't want no voodoo,
I didn't want to crash and burn,
not like you do.

I'm plugging my ears
to stop the noise and
******* the wound
to rid me of the poison.

I have to roll up my
sleeves and dig in the dirt,
try to repair the damage,
now that wouldn't hurt.

So what's so hard
about blowing you off,
leaving me alone to
collect my thoughts.

But it feels so lonely
knowing we'll be done
I'm a little lovelorn
after the setting sun.

I grew so tired
of all your lies
and to take them as truths
just wouldn't be wise.

Still it's a matter
of setting thing straight,
no more will I jump in
and take your bait.

Instead of missing you I'm just going
to get used to not having you around,
I deal with it better that way or
at least that's what I've found.

Nine
the first thing
that I noticed
was the child's beauty.

then again
I realised how
you can't judge a book
by its binding.

my fingers
laced behind my head,
while the  back of my mind
rest in the palm of my hands.

the linking of
those boney fingers,
a sign
of my threadbare body,
barely old,   barely able.

there she was,
waving her habitual bliss
like a carrot
on the end of a stick.

while a silent psalm
surrounds a starry angel's glow.
This poem has already been sold.

Time Will Tell
A ****** crossed
a crescent moon
in a twilight sky,
the wind whispering
"Is this a blessing
or is it a curse."

Falling stars pass through
the pastel splashed canvas
of a Northern night
heading toward
once green fields
***** and on fire
with no morning's dew
for rest bit.

To the south
mountain tops
pushing jaggedly
through milk white clouds,
their tips, rock bare and alone,
always looking down on the world,
their stone being smoothed by
one hundred million winds
through one hundred million years.

Only time will tell
if there will be a human shadow
to bask in the rays of a close enough Sun.
Playful gods, mythical legends telling us that
any great wrong will be found out.
A Proverb's Fallout dripping
down our brow like interest owed to creditors.

Tomorrow (for Tamara)
You can just
get out of my face.

Your response to
some one not liking you,
is to not like them back.

Here's a thought,
why don't you try
changing the way you act.

You may be a friend of a friend
but that alone does not garner respect.

I call you 'Tomorrow' because
that's when I want to see you
and every body knows
tomorrow never comes.

You had better hope
that some of the things
that you say come back to haunt you
because nowadays not too many
even what to say boo to you.

My Father And I
My father,
he took me hunting
at the young age of five.

One time we went fishing
on a lake called Cold
I caught a speckled trout,
from then on I was sold.

Then from the sea in a dory
a lobster trap he stole,
I've yet to figure what that was about.

Living in Canada
lends its self to a bounty of beast.

The fowl of the sky
with a rifle I did shoot.
They were tasty and we did feast.

I learned to set a snare
to catch a rabbit
and make a stew.

I'd gut them and clean them,
I learned all of this...
and in the back
in a smoke house
hung all kinds of fish.

You don't have to
be able to understand something
to be able to use it.

But you have to understand something
to be able to use it well.

I guess that this applies to life.

My father and I, well, we were just learning to grow...
he's gone now, and I pray God rest his soul.

That your Spirit flies

Life is short that says it all still you're going to find that it's a long hard crawl.
Magical the myriad of visions that pass moon beams,
hopeful my heart grasps the spark within these wakeful dreams.
The hours of fitful slumber waning fast like the death of night,
my mind wonders to and fro like a pedulum on my sight.
Dreams that seams like nothing now at all not big or so small.
My relentless wake devours me now, for I am always dreaming anyhow.
It is my hope that all who see and want to be a part of this will contribute a line. I don't know how exactly this will work but let's give it a try. I'll start with the first line. If you don't want to contribute a line feel free to have imput by commenting.           Let's  rap this one up like a late Christmas present

You have left and
I will watch as you walk away
Watch you become so small until you are
A speck on the horizon

Then I'll turn my thoughts to something new
Or some old thing that I thought I had let rest long ago
Either way I will distract myself and not call it 'waiting'
What do I have to 'wait' for anyway, maybe just a new day

A day that has no scent of you
With a nightfall that will bring peaceful rest
A rest with no dreams of my loss
No dreams of what was once something that I called mine

Plastic toy soldiers will now guard my bruised heart
They will guard against any intruder that might want to distract
Me from my wallowing in self pity
Creating my pain from frame to frame in a comic book life

A cosmic tale of a fish that I call a whale
A boat that I float in a sea of stars that shoot a movie
Of a sad sad man who doesn't understand
And if he did he wouldn't change a thing

I should have said Yes but I said No
And now I tell myself  it doesn't really matter
A lie I will tell the world to save some face
To sooth my broken ego that masquerades as my heart

Kitchen Table
Sitting at the kitchen table,
a game of cards on the go.

A fruit bowl that's become
a "catch-all" for all things Kitchen.

A calendar up on the wall with
dates written over for appointments.

The time it goes so fast,
October all planned out.

Summer has gone, got up and left,
not saying so much as a word.

Last year Winter started in November,
it snowed as many Wednesdays as it could.

In the back of my brain I hear the radio play
some sappy tune that the DJ was calling "classic rock".

This chair I am sitting on is too hard
and my **** tells me to get up and walk.

Hurry up and win I say to myself
so I can retreat to the Living room.

The tiny town's talented tailor
swiftly sews silken suits,
in his shop he plays the Wailers,
Bob Marley fills his boots.
Beside his shop
sits Susie's Sushi,
she serves him lunch
every Tuesday.
He leaves a tip because
she treats him well,
He's got a crush and
she can tell.
After lunch
it's back to work,
measuring here
and stitching there,
everthing is done
just savoirfaire.
All the town folk
say he is the master.
He smiles at this
and works all the faster.
Then on the corner
the clock strikes five,
with the last suit hung
he says enough of this jive.
He shuts the light
and locks the door.
Nine bells tomorrow
and he'll be back for more.

A Touchy Subject
I did a double take,
it doesn't have to
be that way.

I goofed, ****** up,
my nasty habits were on display.

I have had a hard life,
I'd rather that than
one that's flaccid

I saw and heard things out of
the ordinary, kinda like I was
doing acid.

To each his own,
I can tell you that.
Some things are not for everybody.

At moments I'm bursting with joy,
that's in between bouts of melancholy.

I can be on a plateau
for a bit of a stretch
right before I turn a corner.

Then I'm just shot into space,
I guess you could say that I'm a foreigner

If you wanna have some whiskey
by all means feel free,
it's just not my cup of tea.

I'd rather a blunt and something sweet,
just hangin' out, taking it easy.

If you want to converse
I'll go along for the ride
but there is a limit to what I'll discuss.

Most every thing is fair game
Though an open mind is a must.
But we can't tackle *******
no, that would be a touchy subject.
This is not to make light anybodies experience in any way.

Murder on Halloween
Her intuition must have been clouded
by a Halloween's party drinking.

A beautiful young girl,
barely old enough to drink.

She took a ride offered
by a stranger and was ***** and murdered.

Left on the side of an old dirt road
deep in the back woods.

Only to be discovered in the November daylight
half naked from the waist down.

What kind of human being would
want to cover up such an ugly crime.

Why would he only come to get
two years under house arrest?

Why would society
even want to have him back..

He silently blends in amongst the crowd,
most never knowing not of his part.

Who is to say what he is capable of..
How is he able to sleep at night?

Perhaps he himself is a psychopathic,
The ******* ***** rat, just repulsive.

I cringe when I see him and have to hold my tongue,
I have the urge to do violence against him.

It's all wrong you got it wrong
I tell you this because our friendship is true

I go to and fro in my day by day
That same friend came up to say

You have it all wrong and I feel I can tell you
as our friendship is true.

Fresh moment to alive to die brings out the life
I try to live, sewing moments all in a row.

My so called friend states yet again I do it but do it wrong yet.
Now is it for me to drag  my friend into the realm of possibility
Or is his doing it wrong comments come only out of his fear.

Predication
Don't fool with me,
make me feel like I don't know English.
Track me down and tell me it's easier to learn French.

Once you think you know French they tell you that you got it all wrong.
You need to know Canadian French. If it wasn't for poutine I'd build a wall around Quebec.

Any how if I didn't use enough modifiers with my Verb string me up
And who cares anyway, just some tired Academic that tries to say
he teaches people.

If anyone wants to say wrong again then the only thing they can do is teach. And like they say, if you can't do, teach.

In conclusion  ( like I'm writing an essay). To which I state the dictionary's definition of Predication could use a little plain language, or maybe I should learn Chinese. Just for their beautiful Characters.

In The Valley (revisited)
We took a long drive down
To Jawbone Corner where
A flashing red light
Acts as a four-way
I'm with my girl, her driving,
Me delivering foreplay.

Down in the Valley where
You can be at rest or
You can be at play,
Newly Weds and nearly Deads,
Draft Dodgers from Yankee Ville
And my family lives there still.

Apple blossoms with
Their assualt to the senses,
All kinds of distractions,
Too many to mention.

A Sunday drive
That lasts all day,
Cape Blomington stands
Oh so tall,
You can get down
And forget about it all

As you coast in to town
And lay your money down
At the local pub,
Checking it all out
To see what's what
In the way of fun,
Where to next
Under the mid-day sun,
Where to next
Before we're all done.

Out in space on the other side of the earth
where the world of water blocks out the sun,
you look outward to see the stars burn bright
without Earths atmosphere they don't flicker,
they shine strong and the total darkness calls,
it calls God to your heart, while the milky way
is a band of white, leading to where? Perhaps,
back to the Garden.  Here on Earth, between
these ears, where the battle of the soul rages
and your conceit grips you with two hands
around your neck while you try and run away
in the other direction, or maybe you'll just sit
in the **** while a legion of devils whisper in
your ear. The Hounds of Hell, they aren't satis-
fied when you hold out a biscuit shaped like a
bone, no, they want to gnaw your bones to pulp,
they lift there leg and **** on you as you stand
there shaking, shaking like leaves on a tree and
you know your only hope is to bow your head
down and get down on bended knee. Go to the
Cross and from the dirt on the ground look up
to that naked figure there that paid the price, the
God-Man sent to fight the battle for you. All you
need to do is ask, go to your closet and in the darkness
of that small closet with its four walls in arms reach
and all of its ghosts with their hot breath breathing
down your neck permeating your pores and let your
Spirit pray.  Keep praying as the tears roll down to soak
your breast, pray until your eyes puff red. Pray that the
Christ saves you rather than not; as you've been the Devils
play toy for so, so long, and if you don't choose when you
know the difference God may just move on, move on to
save a soul that really wants to be saved. How ignorant and
arrogant we are about the Laws of the Universe, about the law
of cause and affect, about living a life of faith and instruction.

Or until you let the fat lady sing.

This Town is Too Small
You say something to one person
and they say something to some one else.

Someone is always rolling over in their grave.
Even to die isn't enough to be left alone.

Sometimes it's hard to find a single friend,
no not a one to be found.

Don't be thinking you're too cool to avoid the bombs,
they're getting dropped no matter who you are.

You might think you're something,
but you're just another face in the crowd.

So don't talk too loud and carry a big stick,
sometimes it's like a ball of snot on your finger that you just have to flick.

It can get you down if you let it,
but I bet it just falls away if you just keep your hands in your pockets and button your lip.

Gypsy Woman
When I was young
a gypsy woman said to me,
You'll have a life of chaos and confusion
With no end in sight, no solution.
She waved her arms in the air
pronouncing due time must pass
before I'd stumble upon peace, and
more pleasure. And love, all in good measure.

As I think about what she said
I relax on the beach listening
to the waves lapping at the shore.
Watching the children carry their plastic pails
full of jellyfish to a sandy death
before going back for more.

The haze in the sky lets through the suns rays
and I burn slightly contemplating these better days.
I don't look back but when I do, it's not for long.
I turn my thoughts to what went wrong,
then I cast the memory aside
in order to allow my spirit to glide.

Mistakes are still made,
not every card is well played.
I get nowhere if I deny,
and cheat myself with some spun lie.
Change is going to come, it comes for everyone.
I make the best out of what I've got,
sometimes it seems that it's so little
but the opposite is true, it's really a lot.

Sound of Silence
If when I stand out in the wild
and I hear the sound of silence
come to find it be a whole lot of
amplified white noise numbing my mind

I'd rather hear the sound of a Mariachi
Band bouncing off the cold and sweaty tiles
of a Public Washroom wall where secrets
lay on bended knees and golden rings
are held at eye level trying to act as a reminder
of what should be good in life.

Don't Run With Scissors
I learned not to
run with scissors
along time ago
in this spiritual playground
that blooms and blossoms
within and without me.
Don't run with scissors
and treat what I find
with as much reverence
as I can muster.

Oh how it sometimes becomes
so obvious that when I lose track
if I follow it back and I follow it back
it leads right back to me.

It's my perception with which I see
and sometimes born of imagination
I stumble upon some thing so magical
while I'm playing on the monkey bars with the others
who are twisting and twirling and hurling through
this expanse that they just tell us just is.

I'm feeling to advance and hold the whole of this universe
in my mind or in the collective mind that so far points to that of Humankind.
Just don't run with scissors and don't **** in to the wind
with these two golden rules (pun intended)
my heart gets what it needs knowing
it doesn't have to take it with greed.

I can never lose what I never had
and nothing can be taken from me
unless I agree...
But in the broader question
there are just too many to mention.

Those who have stood by me
when the row has been hard to ***
I can say 'we walk alone' and in the same breath
I can say 'there is only One of us who walks'.

Steel Grey Sky
Looking for comfort
Tears in my eyes
Like rain pouring down
From the steel grey skies
I've had a lot of time to think
Since you've been gone
I haven't had a shave in three days now
I can't seem to face the mirror
Breathe deep they say
It will help you heal
What do they know anyway
I'll just lay here in bed
Waiting for it to pass
It my take weeks
Maybe months...
Who knows it could be years
Cloudy skies cloudy judgement
I'm impaired and I haven't had a drop
I could wish the pain away
But what would that help

I'm just going to stay in bed
until these clouds roll by
I look out my window
And what do I see
A steel grey sky following me

without
any money
I won't
get too far,

but I'm
on  a tab
all night,

drinking my gin
from a mason jar

you might think
it's kinda funny,

the way I rock my boat,

but you can have yours
and I'll have mine,

I won't be made
out to be a scapegoat,

if you cross my path
I'll give you a sign,

I"ll put my
pedal to the medal
and watch me unwind.

if you be sleeping
under the bridge
it's not that I don't care,

it's just bridge is
a whole another game

and you won't see me there.

maybe I can't
hold a candle to you
in some respects,

the way
you sway
in and out
and along the line,

I'll be
topping it up
with premium,

putting it to the test,

this dream I dream,
this dream I find.

New Orleans
Bring out the noise makers
and kneel at the alter.
Blow your kisses to the breeze
and let midnight fall.

Charity mesmerizes me,
comforts me and brings me around.

The people are dying
and soldiers bullets are flying.

Old Mother Earth
tells it like it is.

No terrorist threat,
just slam the coast
one time,
slam the coast two time.

Blow those noisemakers
and throw your kisses to the breeze,
kneel at the alter
and let midnight fall.
Hurricane inspired.
