Global Village Idiot
This way
to the end of days

Passing
brain
insane

Streaming consciousness
Washing ashore messages

Hopes of a lifetime
down the drain

Fools with the world
Doing for an audience

Every bit
of us slowly
crumbles

Be careful
what you think

For they
come for you
whatever you do

Not to be caught
with your pants down

Looking like an idiot

Any Other Day
Any other day
would have been fine

I would have
pulled out
the coffee ***

I  would have
served up
the sweets

and dusted off
the wing back chair

I would have
pulled out the ******
and told tales tall

Any other day
I would have
put the world
on hold,
turned off
the ringer

And given you
my undying
attention
but not today

Murder on Halloween
She was a west coast girl,
an artist and a beauty

She pulled up stakes
and headed east.

Didn't stop until
she could smell the Atlantic.

The vibe she emanated
was one of love and joy.

But there were other vibes in the air this Halloween night.

She took a ride to a party in the sticks,
someone from her apartment complex.

Found half-naked on the side of a dirt road,
it sounds like a horror film and I wish it was.

Things will never return to normal or her family.
Every Halloween, a sick memory, an awful chill.
This is a true story
Don't just don't stand too close,
what do you figure man!

Don't you know there is a pandemic!

I guess as far as you are concerned Big Government
will help you, don't you know, they will or will not.

Banking the house for winter
so the pipes don't freeze.

North, North America is o so cold
come winter... and the slush and the salt
ruining your car and your clothes.

I'd like a formidable climate,
a place to hang my hat.
Some place so awesome
you just want to plant your roots.

Nothing Is Real
The man said nothing is real

While making a sweeping gesture with his right hand
It's a simulation he says, all of it, nothing is real

I remember as a kid singing row row your boat
Reminding me to be happy because life is a dream

Again the man states while gesturing, nothing is real

Cats
My wife has taken a trip to visit relatives
in another part of the country.
After a couple of days, here at home,
the cat is getting a little freaked-out.
Then my wife, who is away, is starting to get a little worried.
"Oh, she's okay I said". "She's been looking at me a little strange and she meows with some kind of accent".
I think she's saying, "Oh wait, there is something going on with my humans".
"I'm missing a human... godammit". "Someone has taken one of my humans! And my favorite one at that!"

Emotional
I asked her what she wanted and she said I want to die
But it was just that she didn't want to face life the way it is

Life for her was full of pain, physical and mental
life was hell on earth and the only thing that was stopping her ending things was she didn't know if it would bring peace and she didn't know if there was peace in nothingness
that was all that was stopping her

I said it's not that you want to face life it is that you don't want to face life.
Your father killed himself and it hurt you all your life
and now you have a young son and you know that the rest of his life it will hurt him.

You don't want to die, you don't want to face life.

When I said I was not willing to live in that hell with her
she told me I wasn't being supportive
I told her hell was her state of mind and it could be changed
She again said I wasn't being supportive
sad story but not a hard luck one

No News Is Good News
I paid my dues for today
I heard the news of the day
They always have plenty to say
Canadian broadcasting is on corporate welfare
While they tell you that the poor are a strain on the Government
Their main objective is to give you a scare
In the Heart o hearts I pray for discernment
To them it's a matter of divide and conquer. I won't play
The game of consumerism is laid bare. I won't pay

It was Wednesday four times last month,
my feet are on the world my hands are in the sky... "The sheep spends its live fearing being eaten by the wolf only to be slaughtered by the shepherd". What a way to die.

I miss the crowds hanging around the busker at the liquor store, the musician  pounding out a rhythm, the crowd moving and shaking, the air fills with vibrations.
I roll up my sleeves to humbly dig in the dirt, for music claims my life's blood.

Forget about the grief and the losing hand we are holding, even with a royal Flush the house will always win.

Hi, sorry but I forgot your name, I'm the neighbour that lives above you. Could you please stop yelling at your wife...   this isn't the 50's anymore.

Why do you say "jumping jesus christ" do you think he was hopping around Nazareth handing out fishes and loaves  like  some bloodless Easter bunny.

Always, my heart is in my hand, it just slipped off my sleeve, my love strokes it while it lay in my palms.
My mother died in pain but peace, on her deathbed she always felt better when I read to her her favorite psalms.

Thanks But No Thanks
I like to drive
I love my car
And how it handles
I'm not so disturbed
Should a shopping cart
Leave a dent in my door
Hell, I collect fenderbenders
I wear them proud
Like medals won in war

The illusion of freedom
Driving brings is a poor substitute
For the real deal but it's better than nothing
I'll ride the pedal 'till the tank runs dry
Fill-up then hit the road again
Soon, or soon enough, the rising cost of gas
Will have me confined to my hometown

Knit a Face
I would be so sweet if it weren't so bitter
I could really move if it didn't stand so still
It's going to take a lot of water, maybe a river
It'll take a lot of love flowing through until I have my fill

Sometimes love's fire lifts is up
It burns so bright as we fill our cup
We touch so soft and slow beside the ancient well
It feels so good to be in love's spell
So we try to hold tight but love takes wings
And sometimes in our pain we do hurtful things

Love's strong suit held close to the chest
It says that you have it made, your hand is the best
So you can go big or you can stay home
You can hold your horses or you can hold the phone
In the end, and you know that it's true
You're going to slide right in, there is nothing you can do

When you can't find love
Hidden hard in heart-red shades and blue-grey shadow
I feels like you don't remember how to live
You stumble around and forget your place
You wring your hands and you knit a face
You try and pretend it doesn't matter, that's what you'll do
who are you trying to kid now, who's fooling who

Let's Not and Say We Did
I want to love you
Like there is no tomorrow
I want to give it my all
And never experience any sorrow

I want to take your hand and kiss your lips
Lead you to the promised land
While waiting for off spring
With both hands on my hips

I sometimes wonder do you feel the same
I'd like to ask you are you playing a game
Is it my *** you want though it's nothing to write home about
Or is it your *** you want to flaunt leaving no way out

We could blast of into the stars
You being Venus me being Mars
Hold up a mirror and peer past our reflection
And make love all night without any protection

I think that I have loved you
Since I was a kid
But wait a minute now
Let's not and say we did

Monetary Blues
It looks like I took
A turn for the worse
I hit a fork in the road
And came down
With some voodoo curse

These monetary blues
I do detest
They've taken away
My happy-go-lucky
And put me under house arrest

My muse she flew
Out the backdoor
And is on the run
Screaming over her shoulder

All That Fun
I would crawl to work
on all fours after a night of heavy drinking,
just to avoid nursing a hangover at home

I hated being stuck at home, what, with all
my furniture bought on credit, living a life in debt.
So again and again, I crawled back to work.

Once, before I knew what and who I was, I found
nothing to question, not that the whole ball of wax
wasn't just a put-on, a big lie, a way to keep me bound.

The language of the living put out their message of peace love and understanding and I'd like to say I immediately answered the call, but that was not to be, not for years to come.

I couldn't stay away from the wicked alcohol without some hope.
I hide myself from any kind of sheltering arms, or full-on hugs.
I held myself back, back to that phony-self that kept me alone.

Finally, after a emotional-breakdown I began my spiritual breakthrough, not easy, just one thing that had to be done, it was a process that 'I am' doesn't always find to be all that fun.

Remains to be Seen
I'll take a handful
and then suffer the consequences.
When will I learn, will I ever stop.
Will I lay my nasty habits down,
or are these just now be my permanent vices.

These days when the
young indulge in drug use
they have to deal with Chinese manipulation,
manipulation of chemicals that can cause death.
How do you like them apples.

Death is something we all face,
or if we don't get cheated of the chance to face it we do.
At least dying of an overdose affords you the opportunity
to have an open casket funeral and you know what they call
an open casket funeral, well, remains to be seen.

But you catch my drift, he snubs so good
Never anyone's pawn he wrote so much
He often forgot what he'd recorded.
The story of him hearing someone cover
Love Is Just A Four Letter Word and saying
That it was a good tune brought chuckles from
His travelling companion.
To call him luminary would be a shortfall.
Prolific, another stab in the dark,
Maybe Wizard would suit him, I don't know

When The World Weeps
I'm the kind of guy
Who never sits on an ugly truth
When the hard winds blow
And the fishing boats are moored
There's few gulls to be found

As breezes go this is a beauty
The combinations of grey's in the sky
The tumbling of trash cans is music to my ears
The slippery streets, a hazard to the unskilled
The lights in the windows become beacons

Lost are the die-hard umbrellas
Seeking shelter under the overpass
They always end up there through no fault of their own
To be in the company of a vagrant wishing for a drug or drink
Something to numb the sounds of the world's howls of transition

Coal Mine
Sometimes I feel like a canary in a coal mine and it's a concern,
Putting "fragile" on your Amazon Box will make a case for return
Holding my favorite fiddleheads while standing in the ferns
Last bullet in the chamber and it's your Russian turn
Give me my country's flag and I'll watch it burn

I call and I respond and I'm going to go on long and slow
The best part of living daily is you have some control.
Taking up peoples advice can drive you solo,
They each have to sing their song and they'll start before you know
No permission, the band's rolling me over, not going with the flow.

A fraction of the time a fraction of the now,
Give your head a shake before it begins to pound.
The whole world is crashing he sang  "It's coming down"
Sometimes second guessing myself can be a raging hound,
If I lose my senses I'll will miss hearing all that sound.

I'm pretty cool when it comes to no dice,
Not once did I say your best won't suffice.
It's like ordering-in Pizza, do you want your slice,
No business working hard, no food for the rats and mice
If you want to crucify someone, make sure it's not the Christ.

Blocking Bots
My brother called me and asked what I was doing
when I said I was blocking bots there was complete silence

I'm inclined to side with the dearly departed George Carlin
He told us we don't have freedoms we only have privileges

Privileges that they can take away at anytime they please
There is so much going on in the world that is heavy handed

How do we move past this, the people that have the majority of the weapons. Highly sophisticated death dealing hellfire weapons

To keep people in line while they siphon off those dollar bills
If you want what they have go ahead and try and join them.

Their power becomes so perverted  they care more about controlling people than they care about what they can buy.

*** in all its forms is how they get their jollies. *** with children
Is prized, defecation and urinating on each other turn their crank.

This all plays out in the public eye and they get away with it.
All that money can buy weapons yet we outnumber them.

If I were in the shoes they wear I would not feel safe. They control through manipulation. They will not give up their power easily.

Unscathed
The polyester I wore in the seventies was itchy,
the equivalent of one of those hair shirts the religious
fanatics wear after rubbing it in a bunch of sharply pointed twigs.
The seventies were good times  and carried a bright future.
Introduced by hippies to a **** that opened my senses.
Some trouble began when at sixteen, while taking a trip with a friend
on some powerful LSD we began to get very high and the hallucinations started to freak my friend into a major bad trip.
There was nothing I could do and I was scared too. That night we stayed in a tent  and used candles for light, all the shadows  and the candle wax  melting looked like giant bugs crawling, while the flickering on the sides of the  darkened tent  felt so sinister
Things were never the same for my friend, I mean he lost a part of his mind. He could still function but was never the same.
I on the other hand lived hard and fast for years. I did most of the drugs that I came across never giving it much thought. Just moving forward, integrating experience. Not thinking of death but not of life either.

Black American Music
The blues they say
Came from singing call and response
In the fields and when they'd go to church they
Injected the spiritual which led to Gospel.

From there, the spawning of Blues and Jazz
And it was fascinating, it was The Birth of Cool
Muddy Water's said it "You know the blues got soul."
He claimed the "Blues had a baby
And they named the baby Rock and Roll."

Black American music remained on the cutting edge
With Soul, Funk and Disco, R&B, Hip-hop and Rap.
The world owes much to many great American musicians,
,But particularly the Black, they've done it with style and grit.
My eyes are all dried up I can't cry anymore
Even if I could I wouldn't waste my tears
It's all in the wrist a simple twist of fate
You have a beginning before you have a finish
When you **** one out it's not the end
Just dig in and pay the price of the ticket
Fire yourself out of a hundred foot cannon
And choose your death before you fade away
Slap your woman on the *** and show her you love her
Let her know that after the fact you'll still be there
Pass on the torch and roll another number
Lay you to rest before you turn into another.
