3:30 am

it slurred it's words
as it entered the shutting doors,
missing the shutter by an inch

3:31 am
it tumbled it's way into a seat
as the smell of alcohol filled the air

3:32 am
it slid off the seat

3:33 am
i left.

seasons
charlie Aug 2019
As people teach you throughout your life,
It will plant a seed in your mind,
Allowing your branches to grow
Making you wiser as you get older,
But what if my branches have already been grown,
Longer than yours,
Abundant with leaves,
Yours have fallen into a pile,
The knowledge faded,
Have you forgotten all the seasons?
The coldness of winter forced you to face introversion,
The chance winter gave you was gracious,
Although her strategies used force she had kindness in her heart,
So you sat by the window and stared longingly for a new season,
Throwing away grand possibilities,
In your small world the world outside seemed cynical,
Yet, It was your own cynicism that rendered you still,
Still enough to watch the flowers blossom into spring,
The sun shone over every being except for you,
Hidden among the shadows,
You were a bud ready to blossom,
But you were stunted by jealousy,
You wanted to navigate
Using the light to craft
So you waited for buds to blossom,
But to you it seemed like impossible competition,
Afraid to bare  seeds of your own because you wanted this patch of earth all to yourself,
All to yourself,
This was colder than winter,
This was blooming into spring,
This was falling into the deceptive warmth of summer,
Some days were rainy
And others, trapped in a dying heat,
Nothing to predict its inconsistent onset,
It arrived and left before I could settle on the decisions,
From the times that I've missed when fall rolls over again
Have you forgotten all the seasons?
Or is it that I remember them differently,
Fall didn't cause me loss,
Winter galed redemption
Spring didn't cause me jealousy,
Summer reassured me my life meant something,
Have I forgotten seasons? Or do I have seasons to remember?
Each one gave me chances and lessons to hold onto,
Feeling and emotions that won't fade away
But do I truly remember the seasons? Or do the seasons remember me?
