why she wrote
ineffable wonder Sep 2013
she writes until her fingers
turn black and blue
&she; can't tell the difference
between the ink and the bruises

she spills letters onto
thin white sheets of paper
just like the way
the clouds are scattered in the sky

she uses the letters to make words
in order to complete lovely poetry
exactly like the constellations
the words are stars used for completion

she poured her soul into the paper
immersing herself in vocabulary
so that a piece of her was left behind
every time she would write

she let a part of herself go
only in the hopes
of one day disappearing
completely

Love Stained Lips
ineffable wonder Jul 2013
The words that left her lips
Asking about the boy with blue eyes
Curious mutters echoed
As she gazed across the room

The words that left her lips
Befriending a quiet boy
Sweet hello's over the phone
She smiled to herself

The words that left her lips
Expressed a profound feeling
The sound of passion filled sighs
"I love you"

The words that left her lips
Were pleading for him not to go
Broken cries towards the open door
Speaking to a soul long gone

The words that left her lips
Listing every one of his features
Tired yawns directed at the ceiling from
Brokenhearted nights still spent on him

The words that left her lips
Were somewhat tragic whispers
Of sadness filling the empty air
As she breathed her last goodbye

Unpredictable
ineffable wonder Jul 2013
I didn't expect this
I didn't expect to fall so fast
Not knowing if you would catch me
I didn't expect to converse with you
Talking until the late hours past midnight
I didn't expect you to show me
The side of you that is broken, but healing
I didn't expect to become so close to you
Relying on your presence to keep me sane
I didn't expect that this would happen
In such a short period of time
I didn't expect you
Your smile, your pain, your everything
I didn't expect to be so affected by you
The way you can break me easily

Let's Do It All
ineffable wonder Jul 2013
Can we wake up early
To see the break of dawn
And hear the first chirps
Of the birds in the morning

Can we walk around in the afternoon
Going downtown finding record stores
And quaint coffee shops with a small library
Then go for lunch at a bakery

Can we spend the evening
Sitting together with a cup of tea
Reading our favourite poetry
Immersed in the words of Frost and Poe

Can we fall in love
Sitting on the rooftop tonight
Staring at the night sky
Trading secrets and sharing sorrows

Walking Through Adolescence
ineffable wonder Jul 2013
It was a somber promenade
Through adolescence
A struggle every mile or so
To fit in and get better friends
Then there were your demons
You found them at every corner you turned
Chasing you trough your childhood
Relentless and mocking

Adolescence could have been many things
Such as fun, exciting, lively
Except for you
You walked through it
Carrying your sorrows the whole way

Ocean Eyes
ineffable wonder Jul 2013
Evasive waves are the tears
In your ocean blue eyes
That just won't fall
Because you're holding back
As they crash over you
Again and again
Until they reach the beach
Just like your tears spilling on your skin

Remember Me
ineffable wonder Jul 2013
Five years from now
You'll look back
And ask yourself
"What's the name of
The girl who sat
One row behind me to the right"
But I'll remember your name

Ten years from now
You'll look back and ask
Who was the girl
With a freckle on her chin
But you still can't
Picture her quite right
Yet I will never forget your face

Fifteen years from now
You'll find your old yearbook
Flipping through the pages
Until you land on the girl
With the freckle on her chin
Who sat one row behind you on the right
And you'll remember who I am

You will remember that you both
Were once the best of friends
And you'll realize
You forgot her
Just like she thought you would
And you'll remember the pact
We made to never forget each other

Now we're here fifteen years later
You're standing there, phone in hand
With the girl's number in the other
She picks up the phone with a sad
"Who is this?", you tell her
There's a gasp on the other end
You don't know how much my face lit up

Let's go fifteen years and a few days later
You meet up at a coffee shop
But you don't sit down to chat
You take your orders and go on a walk
The first thing she says "I thought you forgot me"
You have to tell her you did
Those words shattered my heart

Now fifteen years later
You have a family, a wife you love
While that girl, she's alone
She has friends but never found love
Because of you
The girl had a dream
It was to marry you

So now you know, that girl
She never forgot you,
Not once
You invaded her mind
Every other night
Hoping you would come find me
Just like you promised

But you forgot,
While I will never forget you.
