Boy
cassidy Apr 2015
Boy
there’s always that one boy
something special always sticks
your pretty blue eyes
glistening swimming pools on a summers day
so vibrant like crossing signs
warning me to cross the street
loving you through oncoming traffic
no wonder I ended up with ****** knuckles
every time I touched your face
a jawline so sharp it cute like blades
through my slow beating heart
I forgot to mention the baggage
suitcases every size filled so deep
no wonder you said it was a vacation
july stars never disappeared so quickly
while fireworks dance across pools
you couldn’t resist coming home
as I struggled to find a pillow
comfort in the way you left
so I stand over the water
and jump

the truth
cassidy Apr 2015
the colors are bending
reaching for the sky
like a child looking for a parent
as airplanes soar above
crossing each other
like good and bad memories
judgement is in the clouds
you are reaching
for thoughts from the moon
because it gives the light you never had
and the day
only brings overwhelming sunshine
remembering laughter
and the sorrow that followed
like dominos falling up and down mountains
the only relief comes from the stars
answers hidden in space
maybe that’s why you only talk at night
when the answers are right above
closer than the sun
because the moon doesn’t hide
behind the judgement
of those willing to hurt you
and teach you life isn’t what you thought
so now you’re reaching for the truth
because it isn’t what you thought
and the clouds begin to move
the sun continues to shine
while the stars never lie to you
but the sorrow falls like rain
and the moon holds the light
because now you’re reaching
for the parents you never had

the lies of the past
cassidy Apr 2015
i can tell when someone is lying
by the way their eyes move
side to side like a clock
ticking down the inevitable time
and the bomb finally goes off
and unimaginable pain occurs
left in the aftermath of the war
even the past can’t wash away
the wave of sorrow in your chest
because
the past has a funny way of flowing in
rising up and drowning you in it
with resurfacing the water comes
the memories you attempted to drown
long before “im okay” meant “im okay”
now it was a means to an end
like a wrong decision made up
because you didn’t want to deal
with the outcome of the war
being told “everything is going to be okay”
“it’s alright kid”
only made the fire burn brighter
and the water only fueled the flame
because only the past can bring pain
and no one realizes
that rash decisions have consequences
now you are running out of time
because the fury takes over
controlling your inner soul
now my eyes are moving
side to side like a clock
because i am only lying to myself

This Girl
cassidy Apr 2015
I wish I could be something she could miss,
but she’s caught up in a game
called reality while her mouth whispers a kiss
to all curious to know her name.

She will wander in the trees for days,
trying to find another world without her mind
being locked and tortured inside, she says.
She just wants the moments, the life in time.

Underestimating this girl who believes in
seeing the angel in humans at first glance
is a mistake, because her judgement is a win
during a battle of a devils dance.

She is a shade so blue she could make the ocean sink,
maybe that’s why she presses glass bottle to her lips and drinks.
