I’ll never know why 2 AM is such
A bad time for sleeping. Guess no one likes
Crawling under their covers all alone.

Still, you think at some point I would have learned
That nine comes all too soon, demanding I
Crawl out into the world, because I must.

With or without you snuggled by my side,
I can’t face this life without some shut eye.
And yet the black behind my lids is cold.

When the sun comes in, I’ll beg to sleep in.
The clock says 2:29, I know, but
I’ll take a tired day over lonely nights.
I don't feel like this one is quite finished, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

There is no sadness like
logging into Facebook and seeing
a birthday notification for a friend
whose birthdays on this plane are up.

Enjambment.
leave it to
those French to
put a break
where you don’t
want it to
be. As though
syllables
could be more
important
than complete
sentences.
Like something
should ever
pause without
periods
or commas
or some mark.
Don’t those kids
know that good
grammar is
essential
to English
language?

You are beautiful,
but never let me too close.
Always near the door.

Dear rainbow, I seek
not to capture or cage you…
But I wish you’d stay.

Sometimes it feels like
you only care about what
you can take from me.
