She closes her eyes and for a moment she’s there
She feels the cold breeze, hears the trees sway
It would be pitch black if not for the stars
She was far from the city, far from home
It hits her all over again
As if she tripped and knocked the wind out
She looks at him
His face so rosey warm despite the night air,
But his eyes so lost and hollow
She thought, how could you be so callous?
But it finally made sense
Her eyes open and she remembers
The beginning
The inevitable start to an unwelcome end
And she could not be more grateful

I want to know if I have enough will power.
If I have enough strength to actually go through with it.
I know we'll be so much happier, and I think I'm going to start today.
Less and less everyday.

Inside is dark
Unpredictable, dangerously cruel, jealous
Outside is light
Positive, warm, simply soothing
The door is large
Built of solid red wood
It has scratches on both sides
Wood has been stripped and hinges scuffed

I have the key to the door
Reluctant but now prepared
For what happens when it opens
And they finally meet
