Christmas
Heidi A Readey Dec 2011
X-mas
Christmas?
That's okay, I'll pass.
Covering a tree with lights
Is there really any point to this?
I don't see one, other than a day for gifts.
Maybe there was a reason for this day once...
But it's been lost in history, too many have forgotten.
Now Christmas is but a day for greed and gifts for children.
What happened?
What happened,
To Christmas?
It has changed.
Too many people just see Christmas as a day to get gifts, most have forgotten the real reason we even celebrate it.

Haiku of Hope
Heidi A Readey Dec 2011
As you sit, Darling,
I know you have loved and lost,
but keep moving on.

There's a better way
though you have not found it yet
Darling, don't give up.

I know you can shine
bright like the light of the sun
just keep on trying.

Through the darkest nights,
if you let your light shine on,
you can do it all.

But if the darkness
ever has you in its grasp
don't fear it, my love.

Everything lives on
from the darkness, till the dawn,
and you must go on.

Broken promise.
Heidi A Readey Dec 2011
Break a promise,
Break my heart.

Where to begin?

You said you would be there,
but you weren't there for me.
You said you would call,
but I've yet to hear your voice.

Once upon a time, our story never started,
It's just a faded dream in the back of my mind.
I never told you,
And I probably never will.
How much you mean to me,
Will remain an unspoken secret,
Hidden deep in my history.

Saying the Impossible
Heidi A Readey Dec 2011
At night I wait,
longing for your sweet embrace.
A gentle touch.
For with each touch
of your arm against mine,
a new flame lights,
its warm tongue burning me soothingly.

No words describe what you mean to me,
each time I go to try,
the words fly far from my mind
leaving me in a silenced state
of absolute wonder.

The Bridge to Nowhere
Heidi A Readey Dec 2011
Where it leads,
not a soul knows.
Take me there?
Please, just once?
I have to know why..
Once you take the stroll down the wooden planks,
you don't return.

Could this be because it leads to paradise?
Or maybe directly into the snarling, snaggletoothed beast.
Take the risk?
The dazzling leap of faith into the sun?
Yes please.
Lead me to the bridge.

I really must go
Take me to the bridge,
cause I really wanna know.

What lies beyond the now?
What hides in the shadows?
Take me to the bridge.

Mask
Heidi A Readey Nov 2011
There they stand,
Faces set firmly in place with the masks they wear daily.
A different face for everyone.
Some happy,
Some sad,
Mostly happy.
Molding themselves into what the world wants.
Mother wants this,
Father wants that,
Friends, Family, Teachers, Haters.
A different face for each.

End of it all
Heidi A Readey Nov 2011
Falling from the ledge high above it all.
The wind blowing strong,
tantalizing as a lover's last kiss.
And without further thought,
It ends.

Life of the Bullied
Heidi A Readey Nov 2011
He hugs himself in the corner,
Cries himself to sleep,
It has happened once again.
He is broken.
He has bruises.
He's been bloodied and beaten every day.

His father says Fight back.
The school tells him No
The other boys just Laugh.

He will get them back,
He will show them all.
One more punch, Just one more hit,
He will be a doormat no more.

The Girl With No Name
Heidi A Readey Nov 2011
Here lies the girl
that one with no name,
the one who was invisible,
till that one faithful day.

Here lies the girl,
she once lived in shame,
that one little girl,
the one with no name.

She once was invisible,
once overwhelmed with pain.

She was that girl,
the one with no name.

The World For You
Heidi A Readey Nov 2011
See the numbers,
Hear the words,
Take no notice of the fears which follow.
Don't get left behind.

Following is never good enough.
Find what you want,
Never let it go.
Don't let anybody tell you "no".
That ain't how the world works Honey,
Things won't always be this good.

Chase after what escapes.
It won't be wrapped up and bowed.
The world ain't a pretty place Baby.
Not for you.
Waiting isn't good enough,
Chase your dreams tonight.

Damned
Heidi A Readey Nov 2011
We have a problem here, in this society.
Our knights in shining armor,
turn out to be
Soldiers of the ******..

Marching into our lives
with one simplified goal,
turned complex.
We are destined to fail.
Live and let live
simply wont let us live.

All I ever wanted,
it comes with a price.
Can I ever be happy?
With the ****** taking my life?

Hell's minions,
won't let us live alone.
We are the scorn witnesses.
We are the ones who must watch this war.
Captured and captivated by our soldiers of the ******.

Century
Heidi A Readey Nov 2011
She dangled there,
the ground kicked from under her feet
the rope the only thing to break her fall,
to break her neck.
It didn't work.
She dangled there,
Breathless,
Hopeless,
Wishing for death.
Waiting for the Reaper, her soul to take.
Death would not, did not, come for her.
There she dangled,
Alive and yet dead to the world,
her only crime:
Being a woman alone.
