The sun has risen
Soon it will set
The day has started
Later it will end

The flowers bloom beautifully
Still they are sure to wither
The beginnings and endings
Are they the only things that matter?

Are they all there is?
Isn't there something greater?
Something about the finite things
We have yet to discover...

"They end." The end
If so, that's just sad
The fact that things end
Is no reason to be mad

They happen and they end
But the "something"  in between
Makes us all remember
Somehow, finite things can last forever
What is LOVE?
I don't understand
Is it something spontaneous
Or something planned?

Is it something cool
Or does it make the heart melt?
Is it something understood
Or simply felt?

Is it a walk in the park
Or a giant leap of faith?
Is it something you look for
Or do you just have to wait?

Is it something you know for certain
Or will you never be sure?
Do we feel it for pleasure
Or for a reason that's pure?

Is it something that's measured?
If so, I wonder how
When is love felt
Am I feeling it now?

Is there a sign that points to love
Do you follow a route
I'm not sure what love is
But I'd love to find out.
Contentment oh contentment
Will you ever be  understood
By the minds of men
Who always took what they could

Peace oh peace
Will you ever be found
In the hearts of men
Who always frown

Forgiveness oh forgiveness
Will you ever be given
By the mouths of men
Who haven't eaten

Belonging oh belonging
Will you ever belong
In the vocabulary of men
Who've been islands for so long

Happiness oh happiness
Will you ever be felt
In the eyes of men
Who always wept

Joy oh joy
Will you ever be seen
In the faces of men
Who don't know what you mean

Hope oh hope
Will you ever exist
In the lives of men
Who have yet to feel bliss

Faith oh faith
Will you ever be believed in
By the souls of men
Whose souls are dying

Love oh love
Will you ever be shown
Through the acts of men
Not their words alone

God oh God
Will you ever be known
By us, your children
Whose hearts are stone
