Ambiguous
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
The lines were crisp, clean
Just the way you planned
And I,
I was the round peg
That just wouldn't fit into your square hole
Your dignified manner
Made me chuckle at first
Until it turned you cold
Now
I feel sick when you saunter on by
Forgetting, that you
Did once love me

Foggy
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
I kiss your lips
to taste the sand bleached to my teeth
the morning falls heavily, clouding the sky
While our burden buries deeper
under the surface of our skin
my heart burns
And your ghost washes away
leaving me bare and vulnerable
         I kiss your lips
taste the sand bleached to my teeth

Goodbye was written in your eyes
A blemish on your empathetic heart
Sweet lies only to soothe the truth
Pacify your indecision
The tides fighting against the moon
Only a matter of time
Written in the stars
As the sky and sea fight
Over the precious soul
Smile
Naked, bare to the world
Scared heart in gentle hands

I asked, what is permanence? You smiled and gave no reply. How am I to know the beginning from the end? You answered softly, there is no such thing as beginning and ending—we are constantly occurring. Everyone and everything is a work in progress. Are you a work in progress darling? I am no more and no less than you. We move in fluid motion—this is just another experience to learn from. I hold my hope tenderly in hand. It feels like a promise, though I do not know what it promises. I see the sun in my dreams, and lush green—the color of your eyes. Is it really waiting if we are still moving along? I suppose not. It gives me comfort, through everything. I know that you still love me. I do not claim to understand your actions, but I do know your heart. Until we meet again I will live life with joy and love. There is no beginning and there is no end. We shall meet again love.

Crashing
Hayley Dobbs Jan 2012
My heart starts and stops--it's indecisive like that.
                  Where is this all going?
I mean, when is the ******
                               The aha moment?
There isn't one, I'm sorry darling
This just is
Just is what it will be
Me
     Sitting here, wondering
Is my heart started
                             Or stopped
It's all starting to feel the same
That breathless feeling
                       Freefalling in my dreams
Sickening
             Exciting
The newest part of me, and I'm
  Embracing me, embracing this
                 You
Trusting what I feel rather than see
Because my eyes will deceive me
And that is something I can't allow
You and I, remember
              We're going to define forever
Because I still believe
                      In forever
In love
            My hope is perpetual
And I'm relentless

Soul
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
Let passion slip
                        If you want to
               Howl
Or hold tightly
                   Plunge into
          Green rich fields
                               Dressed in bluegrass
       Wearing a crown of sunshine
                   Eyes bright
                               Because
       Passion is your
                   Lover
                      Friend
                           Mother
                               Father
                                     Sister
                                           Brother
           Your heart and soul
                   Today
Dressed in bluegrass and sunshine
                    Wild and free

Melodic Ties
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
Melodic ties tick the monochromatic moments
Slowly
                                                                    Steady
Memories bring the fires
Burning the scars deep
Forget about the past
Present washing away
               Forever
Only the hourglass knows
Morning smiles as the moon hides
                Sleepy eyes
Goodnight
           Good morning for today
Start anew
                       Repeat
Eternity

Bleached
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
The ocean, in the vast depths
                                     Holds my heart
Purging it clean
                       With green waves
              Blue tides
                           And foam punctuation
I'm bleached
                   Head to toe
     By the piercing sun
                Tattooed in henna
  And alive,
                If only for today

Soak
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
I soak you in as your eyes study me
Taking care to memorize each curve
Will you remember my face in 10 years?
With that look in your eyes, I could never doubt
This is forever,
                      As I soak you in.
Desperate to cling to a moment
Frightened that the world will barge its way into my fantasies
Here we are
Sweet and innocent
The sky is a million miles wide, and it's all ours
There we make the connection
                             As I soak you in.
Where will the years take us my darling?
It could be anywhere, as long as I am with you.
Freckles spattered across your face, marking of sun kisses
I adore every single one
Eyes like lightening
I will never forget,
                   So I soak you in.

Dance
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
As we dip
             As we sway
I wonder where we belong
As your feet guide me
                Decidedly
                          Delicately, in fact
I know it is moments like these
                that follow
                                 and haunt death beds
Will it be your eyes
                             your voice
or perhaps it will be your laughter
That trickles in those last precious moments?

Childhood
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
In this game we play
    We dance in the colors
dripping down our backs
            painting the carpet
Your smile is sweet
         reflecting back at me
The sun is setting
and the flowers are singing softly
We gather our memories
                                in empty jars
to gather dust on the shelves
The summer will end
and our innocence will leave as well
But tonight we dance with fireflies
and taste honey dripping down our chins

I Must be Dreaming
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
When I close my eyes
I see that field, remember?
The one in the middle of all that city life,
with the wildflowers growing haphazardly
here and there.

We made that our place
Including the abandoned building
covered in obnoxious graffiti.
It still makes me laugh.

It was Wonderland
You made it that way for me,
with the sunlight shining through you
lighting you up from the inside.
Radiant.

I fell in love with you that day,
really truly in love with you.
As if I had finally saw you
the way I was always meant to.

Reliving that day in my dreams,
I get to hold you closer to my heart.
Closer than my arms would ever allow.
I can still feel you, when I close my eyes

Jungle Dreams
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
Dreams, stunningly brilliant
                       Radiant
Dripping luxuriant green foliage into breezy canopies
There, up in the vibrant canopy the sky opens up to us
Drenching us in dew and sunshine
Little finger ****** of sun dancing on our bare shoulders
Here in heaven
In my dreams, we can still be near
Silky melodies slink from between your lush lips
I am drawn to you,
                        Into you
The wind softly pushes us into an embrace,
          Here
                In my dreams,
You hold me
Stroke my hair, and whisper
                 I love you
Dreams

Anticipating Passion
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
Through the explosion of sound, I feel you. The world is trembling, radiating off of my humming skin. Your flesh, so engaging, is just inches away. My soul weeps in desire. Ecstasy wraps around our climatic passion. Your eyes are hungry, exploring. And my, my heart calls out to you. Inviting you to explore what lies hidden. Our frantic hands fumble in desperation. Eager and impatient, pleading to be taken whole. Darling we are the passion brimming in the sea, the tides washing on to shore. We shimmer brighter, more brilliantly than the stars. Oh, I swear the sun shrinks in embarrassment when it witnesses the magnificence of your grace. My skin bursts with excitement, tight and eager to feel your fingers tracing the curvatures of my body. Relieve me of my desperation, let me feel you my love. It's you, it's always been you. Our souls tangle in contentment.

Dawn
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
Midnight cries at the sunrise, lusting over the vibrant colors
She cries for the colors the sun cannot bring
Wishing she could slip in at dawn
But midnight stays stuck, lusting over what she cannot have
The sunrise smiles warmth to the kind night sky
Moonbeams mix with the last rays of sun
Kissing softly in the wind
Blowing across the eyes of sleeping lovers
Dreaming of forever
But the sunrise and midnight only last a moment
Lingering in their bliss of momentary dawn

Discovery
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
my eyes are crystallizing
fabricating this silhouette of a smile
darling we are the hidden
shadow walkers, dream weavers
cover your eyes and listen
feel me breathe against you
together tonight, but the morning is coming
and I will surely run

Start Again
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
I lost my heart
In the fluttering of song
Carried away
Into a dream
Melodies embraced my bare body
Cradling, and concealing my imperfections
In this stream of consciousness,
I am perfection
I breathe life into stale notes and I,
Oh I can see it all around me
Emotion taking color and form
It's in your eyes
In the syrupy kisses you place upon me
I can't keep the smile off of my face
Stretching my lips to their limit, cracking
The desolation that once captured my mind
This is paradise, by your side

Away From Here
Hayley Dobbs Jan 2012
There is a part of me, just begging
                     to be explained
             to be understood
Just wanting the prepetual motion of forward
To never have to look back, and examine
             a personal history
to anwer for
No, forever moving to a distant goal
Casting away what leaves us
Unburdening our souls of the wasted
There is a part of me, begging
To run free, forever away from this place
From the questions,
                        Half answered
Never to be understood, and how could they be?
Time finds me, stuck running
                 Where am I running?
Take me away, take away
Just take me away from all of this
If I just move forward
                    Hold my head up
I will find that place peace

Trust
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
It's freedom I taste on your lips. A spark of electricity--just enough to send my heart racing. You are not an escape, though you are a rescue operation. No, darling you are eternity. The beginning and the end. Locked away in the towers of your eyes, happily mind you. And oh I, I am forever in your debt. My gratitude is boundless--as is my admiration. I am a surreal being, a figment of your imagination, though you love me no less for it. It is through you that I take shape, and walk among those beautiful living. My mind, you know it better than even I. We tangle fantastically, joyously and appreciate our boundless devotion. I am endless, endlessly tumbling. You are the colors blurring, forming dimension and beginnings. We are the souls, ghosts that haunt, we are the midnight howl. We are. We breathe.

We Are The Stars
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
How incredible
How utterly remarkable
To be created from exploded stars
Simply
            Undeniably
                               Beautiful
Never forget
When sleep crowds your eyes,
                                                And
      Doubt pollutes your mind
You are brilliant stars
                       Shining right under your skin
You are perfect,
                          Everlasting
                  Simplicity

Star Bound
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
There is something about the sky,
it reminds me of you.
When I look up,
you're smiling down at me
I can close my eyes and feel your warmth
Knowing, you must be close
There is something about the sky
The way the colors swirl
More than just blue and white
Maybe it's the way your eyes light up
As you study the vibrant hues
It sticks to me
Sunsets, sunrises
All of those colors melt into your skin
                  Radiant
You have become a walking painting
Swirls of sunlight, moonshine, and star bursts

Consumption
Hayley Dobbs Nov 2011
How I love you, kiss you and breathe your very existence into this being. The world was created for us, and we destroy the beauty in the face of it. Your laughter fills and consumes me, and I am whole as well as empty. The contradictory nature that is solely yours warms and reassures me that this is indeed life. Where will we be in the next hour? It's a trivial question that requires no accurate answers. Your eyes well have surely consumed me before the time is up. Oh love is much too simple to describe the devotion I feel for you, as you, and only you fill me to the brim. Only to drain me and celebrate in my convolution. This is remarkably love, truer than an lovers could boast. My mortal enemy, my guardian angle. Sweet faced and remarkable wicked. How cursed the earth would truly be in your feet had never met the ground. Carry me away with the sweet melody of your voice. The tides will surely pull me under and I will gladly allow them. For you my, forever. Never despair I am yours.
