On the death of thee
There's little joy in life for me,
And  little terror in the grave:
I've lived the parting hour to see
Of one I would have died to save.

Calmly to watch the failing breath,
Wishing each sigh might be the last;
Longing to see the shade of death
Over those beloved features cast;
The cloud, the stillness that must part
The darling of my life from me;
And then to thank God from my heart, to thank him well and fervently:
Although i knew that we had lost
The hope and glory of our life;
And now , benighted, tempest-tossed,
Must bear alone the weary strife

When you was born. You did cry.
Why am I here?
Who are those people over there?
Are they very near?
Will they be a bother to me?
Is it my mother and father?
I don't want any food!
And I don't want to look at the moon.
I will rest my little head.
Shall I go to bed?
Man , What will I say?
It's need only my first day!!

Out of the mouth of babies.
A three year old sets on a *****
He looks in after he's done.
And says, my **** looks like a hot dog!
He jumps off the table and cuts his head.
Blood was everywhere.
He looks around to see mom and says. The Champ is here!
He goes to bed and his mother says
Good night. He says it's not night time til you shut off the light.

Pizza again
The turkey was placed on the table.
Pies in the oven baking.
The football game on tv.
Grandma yells"dinner on"
Went all of a sudden the turkey is gone. Can't be found nowhere.
The back door was open, but no one was there.
When grandpa yells pizza again!
There was no Thanksgiving dinner this night.
For the dogs on the corner had a joy.
While we sat and gave blessing for the pizza boy
It's pizza thanksgiving not turkey this year.

Playing at the county fair.
The bus pulled up to the gate.
All you could see was the ferris wheel.
As we rolled through the gate, we could see people all around.
Cowboys and cowgirls and old and young.
At eight pm, we rolled out on to the stage.
Ready to sing our hearts out.
When in the group we hear play Flowers on the wall.
They all screamed as the song finished then we broke into another
How Great Thou art. The crowed went slightly and they all stood still.
As we played at the county fair.

Praise Thee
Praise thee that has hands that heal.
Praise thee That kneels to him.
Praise thee who ask in prayer.
Praise Thee that answers them.
Praise God that serves us all.
Praise God that gave us life.

Press 1
Press 1 for English is the song we get today.
Every phone calls we make.
It's not a human we speak to.
But just a machine.
They give you more numbers to press
But you always hear press 1 for English.
I often wonder if America moved and we all lost our English talk
If your from the south a howdy, would be nice. .
Press 1 for English press 2 to find your number, press 3 if you know your number.
Press 4 if the number is not listed. And you go on to o which then they have a human on the line.
Then they  tell you they can't help you press 1.

Put your boots on
Put your boots on the crap is getting deep.
And there is not any boat to meet.
The crap they dish out.
Won't fit the on a plate.
So put your boots on.
If the crap hits the fan
You want to duck
Because the guy behind you don't have his boots on.

Rain
Rain drops fall so lightly that you can almost count each drop.
As they fall they form a puddle all gathering in one place.
The little ducks they came to play as they stand in the rain.
The rain it falls now harder that even the trees bend to try to get away.
The sound of a larger tap on the windows as they drop from the sky.
The sound of thunder in the far away land lets us know that a storm
May come soon.
Harder and harder the rainfall. Now the sound is like a drum.
Making music for the birds as they sat to bathe in the drops.
The water from the drops now from a little brook as the duck try to float
I look to see how highs the water but I doesn't need a boat yet.
So let it rain and fall so just maybe by the end of the day it will be snowing.

Rain walker
I walk along a long road.
The rain begins to flow.
A drop here and a drop there,oh so lightly.
You listen to the drops as they hit the trees and the signs on the road.
I walk a little faster as the rain is getting harder.
The drop s start to cover the holes in the road as I walk alone.
Rain drops on my head they start to hurt as they fall.
Now the rain walk becomes a runner to hold from getting wet.
Now it stops I walk in the rain once more.

Recipe for a poem.
A recipe for a poem
Paper or computer of any kind.
Pen or keyboard which ever you have.
A good thought of mind. Which may be blocked by some silly word you might forget.
A very little skill.Which will improve if the mind doesn't go blank.
A good closing if you needs to get out quick.
And don't say goodbye because you will write once more.
Now go to work and write.
O, Don't forgot to spell words right might help.

Red White And Blue
I see the white on this old flag of mine.
I see it as one nation, for all black white red and many more.
I refer to the red as blood lost by those that fought for are freedom and the rights of all.
Red the bodies of each american lost in every war.
I refer to the blue as tears for all that lost. But is also the pride that we have for each fellow american.
The stars 50 of them. For each state. But also for each person in those states.
This is the red white and blue. May it fly high and strong in all americans
Love it because it flies for you.

Remembering.
I saw you standing on your porch.
You were dressed in some funny close.
You waved to me and I waved to you.
I asked my dad who you were.He said you were one of the neighbor boy.
I asked him why you were dressed in those humorous close.
Then my dad said to me.He said,That you were  dressed in a uniform.
He serves our country as a member of the arm service.
He does his time to protect us at all times.
A few days later I meet him once more.
I get close to him and I said I remember you.
Thank you very much for my freedom And may God bless you!

Return of Christmas past
I love Christmas as a holiday
I like the houses all in lights as they glow.
I like the white snow as it falls on the trees.
I like when people say "Merry Christmas" with a smile.
I like making cookies for old Santa
I love the thought of all the gifts that are under the tree.
I love the sound of people singing those old Christmas songs.
I love Christmas. When is it going to return from the past?

Rise Dixieland Rise
Rise dixieland to fire our gun once more.
Let the shout of the south ring once more.
Let's protect our southern heritage and god give rights.
Not to fight our kin, friends but those that hate for which we stand.
To arms to arms my dixieland and shall we bring the north this time.
Fight those from other land that hate us too.
Rise dixieland rise And, this time we shall win!

Not to fight our kin but those that come to take it away.

Rise Dixie rise this time we will win

Rose to a rose
I pick up a flower one day on a walk.
It stood there all a lone.
A pretty flower indeed.
A rose in was red in color.
Then I was thinking about any other flower she too was a rose.
Hair is so red that you would think the sky sets it a fire.
A rose for a rose I did consider. What a pretty way to say
I love you my rose.

Rumor has it.
Rumor has it that people don't like me.
They say that I offended them.
That I stands for war and hate.
And the country I fly for is weak.
Well, rumor has it that I have been here for over 200 years.
That I flies on all buildings that will have me.
I lead every march down main street.
They sing a pretty song in my honor.
So rumor has it I will be here long after you're gone.
So if I offend you that much. Rumor has it you can leave anytime.
The plane has room and rumor has it you're not coming back.

Running in the rain
Your running in the rain
Not to get wet, As the drops fall on your head.
Trying to dodge each drop as they fall.
You keep running in the rain.
You have no umbrella for today.
The rain  drops do fall.
Harder and harder. You don't want no more.
Run my friend the rain drops won't stop
They call for rain all week long.

Santa's answer
Dear Alisa,
I forgive you. I am a very understanding.
I understand war is tough for all.
But my love for children overcomes anything war can bring.
I hope you love your gifts and your new home.
I'm very sure your mom will.
Loved your cookies and milk.Thank you.
I also want to thank you for still believing in Christmas.
And in me also.
For Christmas is a wonderful time of the year and no one should change your mind about that.
So enjoy your Christmas, and always believe what you think and wishes do come true.
So Merry Christmas To You And to All Mankindkind.

Santa's day in court.
Santa enter the courtroom:
The judge calls him to the front.
The judge says your name please.
Santa says you should know me by now bobby.
Judge says it says here you live at the north pole.
Santa says yes with mrs santa. And all 600 helpers.
Judge says you got caught Breaking in to a house.
Santa says that this is my job to bring toys to young kids as well as gifts to the older.
Well how do   you plea santa And santa replys
I have been doing this for hundreds of years. I don't like they way they do things now
But times have changed and I'm failing as one of the most beloved person at christmas time.
They don't say merry christmas any more. They don't take the time to stand in line to tell me what they want.
Judge says well how do you plea?  Santa your plea for me because only you, god and I know what Christmas is about.

Santa's gift
Santa was at the store the other day.
When he came out, he saw a little boy.
The little boy was crying.
Santa right away saw the little boy was dressed in rags.
Santa asks the little boy what was wrong.
The boy said in these words.
I'm not having Christmas this year.
For my father has no job and we are going to move.
My mother has cancer and hard time with it is catching up to her.
My sister is little, happy child and I feel sorry for her because I have no gift.
I wrote to Santa asking him to bring a doll. I want nothing but happiness for her.
This brought tears to Santa's eyes. He told the boy to wait right there.
He went to the store and bought the little girl her doll and the boy in the truck he had asked for in his letter.
Santa went outside and handed the gift to the little boy and said in a deep but sad voice MERRY CHRISTMAS
And walked away.
The little boy look at him and smiled he knew it was santa.
For only Santa and him knew the story .

School days
There is something these days
I will see.
As the days become shorter for the year I do hear.
Children now begin to jump for joy.
As they run to their buses not with toys.
Buses here ,Buses there now buses ever where.
Traffic becomes just a real joke A real slow poke.
School days are here.
WOW! the quite of the storm.

School days 2
Up in the morning, I due dread.
Running and screaming I hear in bed.
Back to school what a joy.
Reading, writing and no toys.
The roar of buses I hear them come.
Schools days prepare to begin.
Buses here and buses there.
When is the buses going to end?
I hear someone one shout "is it summer yet"
And It's the first day of school.
Harold r Hunt Sr Aug 2014
School Days 3
Can't find my homework.
The dog must have eaten it.
Missed the bus.So I had to walk next door to the school.
Mom is going to get mad. I got a F for lunch.
The day is almost over.
I watch the clock with care.
Then it happens.I wake up!
Then I think it's only the second day of school.

Season end
Baseball bats will soon be quiet.
As football season takes a kick
Golf ball will be put away so a president can go to work.
Hockey sticks will soon hit the puck
And basketballs will go in the net.
The summer season is scheduled to end.
Hello winter let it begin.

Second round is better than first.
Some say getting married for the first time is hell.
I believe they are correct.
Getting married to someone fast or someone you really don't know
Can bring hell to the bells that made her to do.
Now the second time you have a little time to look
Though the book to see what you want.
A girl with a southern smile maybe or a girl from the north with a cold heart.
But the second is better than the first just look..
Harold r Hunt Sr Feb 2016
Shoot that groundhog
The snow remains on the ground.
Cold air is rocking the north.
Buffalo is digging out of the snow.
People are buying all the milk and bread.
Roads are close. Schools are out.
The groundhog said 6weeks of snow.
People are panking, and shouting shoot that groundhog!
For its the July 4th and it's snowing in buffalo.

Signs do not mean free.
There are numerous signs these days.
Signs for phones and signs for homes.
Signs for toys and signs with joy theres signs to buy gas and signs that give you gas.
Signs for books and signs for a fish hook.
The sign that people look the most is the sign that doesn't say free.
These days nothing is free there is always a catch.
So the next time look at a sign read it carefully.
It might say free.

Sitting On The Mountain top
I climb a mountain slowly.
Trees below look like tall sticks in the ground.
I get near the top and can't see anything below.
So I look up and start to goto the top.
I climb a little more and just below I see a small cloud.
Just little ways to go my head is spinning .
To the top I'm a step away. Grass on top looks just as green.
Now I'm at the top looking up. I do do not see anything but blue sky.
No angles no god .Ask myself where did they go.
I'm sitting on this mountain top and I'm alone.

Yay all knows that peoples talk funny
If yous are from the south.
They cut off the lights and jaw jack alls night long.
If youns need to find something.
We cans find it down the road a piece or maybe over yawner.
So if you think I talk funny or in slang.
You alls need to catch the seconds of taters and grits and pig fat.
You alls come back now you hear.

Sleepy town
The town stores are all closed.
No shopping for today.
The town streets are bare
No movement at all.
The street lights are out
Why isn't there anyone about?
Is this a sleepy town?
No noise can i hear
The sound of birds is not even in the air.
The dust is whipped about
As the wind is about.
In this sleepy town.

Smile
Little keys open big locks
Simple Words reflect great thoughts
Your smile can cure block hearts
So keep on smiling like a rock
With each smile you get a friend
And with each friend you get love in return.
Smile my friend and love will grow
As you can only smile.

Snow
The snow is falling so lightly on the ice cover pond.
Each flakes a different design as they make a puzzle blanket on the frozen pond.
The snow covers the foot prints of the children that once played in the yard.
Making snow angels that now disappear as the snow fall.
I listen to the wind as it whipped across my window.
The weather man on the old tv tells of a storm that will bring more snow into tomorrow.
As i look I see the birds trying to hide from the cold.
The snow begins to fall faster and a lot more to make it hard to see the pond.
A small deer stands next to a tree looking for a place to rest its tiny head.
As I think of the storm, I wonder how nice spring would be.
Only if it wasn't tomorrow.

Snow football
I lived in western New York when I was a kid.
We want to play football most of the time.
So we started this thing called snow football.
On Jan 14th, we would get together for my birthday.
We would take a keg of beer to the football field.
Then the game would start. Snow to our knees
We would try to run.
The first team to get to the goal. Would get to drink beer first.
By the time it got dark. There was little snow on the ground. We would slide
Or get buried in the snow.
But the beer was cold and we enjoyed our game of snow football.

May I stay with you my soldier friend.
May I cry with you till the last tear drop falls.
For may no soldier be unloved for the freedom that he gives.
May no soldier walks the heavens above. God will be you.
Let no soldier be forgotten, when the bell rings that no soldier will be left behind.
They all will return safe and proud.

Someone is watching you
d dthere is someone watching you
The are watching you all day long.
They watch you in the morning and even at noon.
They could be on the roof or even in your room.
They watch you take a bath at night even when there is no light.
They see you when you have a dime.
And now they are in your mine.
Someone is watching you.
Look there they go once more.

Somewhere tonight
Somewhere tonight they will sing from the heaven above.
Playing the music of the great for all to hear.
Good old Hank will sing your cheating heart he is so lonesome he could cry.
Patty Page she will take the stage with a song only she could sing.
While Bill Monroe gets ready to play with Conway and the boys.
They sing with joy and welcomes the newest
As little Jimmie Dickens belts out a song .
There is no rest for the best.
As somewhere tonight they all will sing.
As the sky fills with song may they all R.I.P.

Spring
The grass isn't brown no more.
The snow has melted away.
The leaves are here on the trees.
As the birds do sing. With great joy.
I seen the children play with thier toys.
As they tell, it's spring once more.
Two lovers they walk hand in hand in the park.
As they wait till, it's dark.
They kiss and say what a nice spring day

Star people
When I look at the sky at night
I wonder if the stars of people we have lost
I wonder if they are looking down on us from heaven above.
Are they watching us at night?
As they shine so bright.
With star to the north that shine the brightest of all
It tells me that the good lord is watching so close to me.
Star people they watch each night and they so bright.
But you can't pick just one. For the heaven is full of star people from above..

Storms donot last.
The rain started to fall on the window sill.
Harder and harder as I sat still.
Thunder and lighting soon turn to wind.
As the night begins.
I look out the window once more.
There I saw snow on the ground.
Blowing and bitter cold.
The storm stopped and the night was quiet.
For storms don't last forever.

Summer.
Summer has come with a bang.
Rain here and rain there.
Wind a blowing from the west while a storm in the south comes up the coast.
Then it's so hot you can fry an egg.
But no pancakes to go along.

People swimming in their pools or setting in the air.
Now we hear these summer days
Why can't we have winter today?

Sunrise Sunset
Pink sky at morning sailors takes a warning
Pink sky at night sailors delight.
The morning sun gives way to a pink sky mixed with gray clouds.
To let the sailors know a storm may be brewing at sea.
As the sunrises high in the sky, the storm has left high and dry in the clouds that son will fall to night.
As the sun does set the sky is pink once more this day.
To let the sailors knows that the day will be delightful for them at sea.
As they go out to sea the dark gives way to just a pretty pink
Which is a wink for the sailors to see.

Sunset
The sun is so bright as it starts to set for the night.
Pink, blue, white and red the colors of the sky this very night.
As the sun says goodbye for another day.
We wonder if tomorrow will bring a pretty sunset like today.
As the sun tucks behind the mountain tops the clouds start to go dark. The Moon raises just in time to send a friendly wink to the sun saying I'll see you another sunset day.
