I held a shirt of yours I found under my bed until it burnt through my hand and onto the floor
I miss you and I'm still in love with you
But my boundries don't let me think outside of my narrow heart anymore
Love knows no limits
But neither does boundless pain
The type of pain that doesn't make a sound but when you look at someone they tell you that you look tired
I wish you the best even though it won't be our best
The man who will sleep next to me has hair like yours but his teeth are different and he doesn't sound like you
There are unsaid things in my soul I'm dying for you to know but I know that talk is cheap and the scars are still fresh and will tear right open if I ever hear your voice again

was it you or was it me

Dreaming about all the memories between the ones we forgot
and the ones we can't forget flat lines my heartbeat faster then the time I told you I didn't love you anymore when I didn't really mean it
I never saw eyes like yours
until I remember the things I can't forget
I have been here before
I have loved two lifetimes too long and there is a reason I can't feel things anymore
Did you get what you wanted?
You take your new lover to the beach at and the moonlight melts into the ocean and you can't forget the way I held your hand in my sleep and she asks you why you let go of hers
Time moved by so quick you don't even know it's been 163 days since the last time we stayed up until 5:30 in the morning
But I would be asleep in your arms and tonight mine are numb
Was it because I didn't fill enough empty space in your bed that you needed more then just one body to keep you warm
Or was I just the first fire you lit and then you realized you'd rather see it all end in ice
I hope the ice is so cold that it burns and you remember that you can't forget the way I used to sing in the shower and when you lay next to someone who falls asleep before you the pillow that you used to put between us when we fought is under her head and you just want to hold it close but it kills you because it doesn't smell like me anymore
And when you wake up next to someone who doesn't wake up before you that you are so lonely you'd give anything to ask for the eggs I could never cook right
And when someone else says she loves you I hope you choke it back to her and later that week when she finds the old letters I wrote to you she understands why you look like a ghost every time she talks about your future together
And when your mom finds the socks I was looking for and folds them into your drawer you pick them up on accident and you can't put them back down until your heart breaks
And I hope you realize one day that there are millions of stars and there are also millions of moons but only one moon will ever control the tides on this planet
I don't think I'll ever be the same again
