Everybody knows the ship is sinking
It’s just that somewhere it isn’t

I'm a black king
And at you
I've got this smoking thing
Dance boy dance
Sing boy sing

The animal looks into my eyes
and says I'm about to die
I say your not mine
The partygoers made a fool of me
One too many times

I did nothing wrong but I did nothing right

I took a taxi
Out to see a woman stripped
Of her clothes
Be gentle she says
I might as well have spat in her eyes

I did nothing wrong but I did nothing right

I thought there were lessons to learn in this world
How to be street smart and savvy
How to walk over dead bodies

It's taken my manhood
Now I'm looking for someone to blame
Like a fountain of pain

Will you be there? She asks
Anytime, I reply
But I've got this war to fight
Waiting for me on the other side
And no amount of running
Is gonna make me cry

I did nothing wrong but I did nothing right

No amount of running
Is gonna make me cry

I did nothing wrong but I did nothing right

We cry for loss
We cry for joy
Because we are human

And every rebel will have his or her day

Of showing how much they love
How much they care
On a word
Yeah!

A Victory
A win
The rain that went and came again
It’s here!

We cry for loss
We cry for joy
Because we are human

And every rebel will have his or her day

Ever reaching for the surface
A heart truly wants to speak out
And every bit of bravery
Stands alone
Unforgotten

For all the years
For all the minutes and hours
For all the debt and monies owed
For all the solid dirt you’ve had to chew

We cry for loss
We cry for joy
Because we are human

And every rebel will have his or her day

I know a heaven on Earth
A little island in the sun
You can feel the plants growing
As the coloured birds fly overhead

This heaven is manned by a tiny angel
She walks on it’s wood floors on old t-shirts
Keeping up the shine
There are sets of tiny feet running
Over those floors sometimes

She says it’s so empty without me
This heaven on Earth
This little island in the sun

The night is a fortress
The million lights below
Sprawling in a frightening mystery
No man can divine

I never want it to go
Because it gives me life
How will I survive?

I’m far away now
And at my chest is handful of heaven's sand
I grip it fiercely

Everyday a grain falls
As the island moves
And the flowers hum

I know a heaven on Earth
A little island in the sun
It’s far away from everything
From everyone

Mr. Dread
In his palm
Holds my head
Like a sweet little baby

He makes the people around me
Look in the mirror
Scrutinising

Everyday it’s dread
Every minute every hour
It’s Dread

But when you’re there
With your voice like a magpies’
Cutting thru
To that sound of morning
Of newness
Of Peace

You take his place in my bed
There is no better cure for my head

Yeah baby that’s you
The one who

Makes Mr. Dread
Disappear from view
