You're my rock.
Not in the sense that you steady me,
Just in the way you hold me down.
Green Jan 2015
You've been waiting to be born for nearly an eternity,
You will be dead for an eternity.
So for that brief amount of time you spend breathing,
Do what sets your nerves on fire
Do what makes your heart race

Do whatever the **** makes you happy
because
Death is the only certainty in life

Sometimes I’ll wake up one morning,
like I do every morning,
and think about all the morning I’ve ever woken up,
and all the morning that I will ever wake up,
and sometimes,
I find myself wishing-
that this morning would be the last.

At a very young age,
I learned to swim.
How is that after all this time,
I still drown in you.

We can sit together,
In the back of this theater,
In the front of your car,
I don't mind.
So long as you don't mind,
That when you kiss me,
I might swallow you whole.

One day you'll wake up,
And you'll come to realize,
That no one has ever really taught you anything.
He didn't come,
With a warning label on his forehead.
There was no lesson on how to,
Remain whole,
When all you wanted was,
To be his other half.

Here you are now,
Skimming eyes over your own life,
To avoid details,
That might remind you,
Of him.

I watched the water drain today.
And it was crimson.
And I thought of myself.
And as I watched the life drain,
I thought, for the first time, enough.
I cannot sail the seven seas,
Cannot climb the Eiffel Tower,
Cannot race through a green field
on a blue sky day.
Cannot summit Everest,
Cannot fall in love,
Cannot fall out,
Cannot run a marathon,
Cannot crunch the brown Autumn leaves,
From behind these skinny slices.
Open mouthed, they stare at me.
And I realize, for the first time,
They too, ask me to stop.
Red won't change the colour of the ocean.
I will carry on.
Today, I will live.
