cheap pencils
giofuellos Sep 2018
Pencils are opportunities, it dulls as you write,
mistakes slowly burns the red rubber ****,
and sharpeners are luxuries or government help or socialism.

But what about cheap pencils,
whose lead dulls or breaks easily.

Pencils are all equal if you look it in the outside
but what you can't see is that these cheap pencils
does not have a solid strip of lead inside,
it has some small quantities of opportunities to write.

I need to sharpen it once in a while
so I can clearly write.

But not everyone has sharpeners nor extra pencils,
some even bought this kind of pencil
with all the money they have
and they cannot write their stories
and their happy endings,
when the luster of their leads are constantly fading
into white, swallowed by the open
free-market place of ideas blank paper.

And I can't blame the poor vendor who sold me
these substandard opportunities.

However,

I am blaming the owners of factories,
for making such lousy imitations,
for exploiting my hunger to write.
I am blaming the government,
for allowing such pencils to ever exist!

Their lust for power, their greed takes away
my opportunities to write clearly and continuously,
I am blaming them for assuming that all of us have sharpeners!

We should not pay for social sharpening services!
Sharpeners and pencils should be free!

The trees are whispering...
giofuellos Oct 2018
The tree are whispering in hushed silent tones
Their voices carried softly by the wind
Caressing the whole forest with their hymns
Suffused in their cries, the arrogance
And greed, and vanity of men
Men that were tasked to guard creation!

Their chants deafening, echoing, increasing
In brave tumultuous waves
Growing ever louder
Pushing the rivers and tributaries into the seas
Infused in the currents
The laments of the helpless
Trampled, and ravaged, and killed
With violence and impunity!

Be wary of the axeman, the hunter, and the miner
They are lurkers, waiting in the dark canopies
Waiting for a chance to **** and pillage
To **** the forest out of its wits
Until it loses its lushness and vitality
'Til it surrenders its grip from the divine earth!

Be wary of the forest ranger
For they are the ones that orchestrates
The relentless and appalling ******
That decimates lives, hopes, and aspirations
They perpetuate the madness
They are the harbingers of chaos, they are destruction
Their charm, vile and putrid
To ever allow them recite their prose would be death!

But never despair,
The sleepers have woken
Those with quiet ears slowly hears the noise and commotion
The deniers have silenced their self-serving lips
Await that moment, when the silence is fractured
By the forest, howling in raging defiance
Justice will be swift, the wolves will be unraveled as sheep!

And only then says the oldest of the trees
Can the children of the forest roam free.

In my search for the serene quietude of dawn
To warm with embers the cold rivers of my soul
I have forsaken your dark shores
Rising and gliding above the hills and mountains
In the swiftest speed I roared

But a giant realization had snatched me
From the mountainous caverns of solitude
Indeed as I have always known, it is
Inside the warmth of your animated splendor
With impassioned ears, I listened to
The sweet cacophonies of jeepneys roaring
In your busy streets, and the hawkers hawking
Along the sidewalks and sidestreets of life
Hustling under the red skies of your twilight

I am alive, and you are alive
Amidst the death that pervades the air
And the disquiet of the surrounding chaos
Like a dark ominous fog that rises into the stars
Destroying the holiness of dreams

Life, life, life! I screamed into the depths of your bay
Hoping to dredge from the red waters, the long gone
Where tattered dreams where made anew
Woven from the silken threads of sleep
Birthed by the once glorious rising of the sun

We are alive, we want you alive
And with our heft, we will raise our fists
We will break the locked doors of heaven
To drag out the kings to hell
And sentence them to the nothingness

We will dance, like the galaxies
Hammering and pounding the ground
Shattering the yokes of cerebral slumber
To ignite the furnaces of life
And start anew a fire that would burn
To bring the light through the everlasting dark!

In disquiet solitude
The thunderous roar
Of my undulating consciousness
Erupts into a cascading flow
Tumultuous and incongruent

When innocuous agreements
Became eccentric mistakes
Paving the way for an absence of light
So the soul becomes shattered dust
Taking with it a myriad of truths

Like the thousands of stars that peek
Inside the vast idleness of man
Humming to the unheard rhythm
Of the song, singing melodies
The blissful woes of paradise

Old man at the CCP
giofuellos Oct 2018
He's seating beneath a big block of stone
On a place where art lays and unfolds
Staring at the passing traffic
Watching at the reality dancing before him
As if he's guarding the ruins
Of the old world crumbling behind
Like the sun slowly fading at the green bay

I can hear him constantly switching
Radio stations on his cheap phone
To pass time, to pass eternity
But never seem to find the song
He's used to dance with in his youth
And now in his twilight amidst
The setting of the great tropical sun
He ruminates on the rising edifices before him

How everything had changed
The thatched roofed houses
Have now become towering cranes
The tall grass have become steel fences
The muddy earth now paved
I can see in the old man's static gaze
That he is wishing and hoping for something
Something he can grasp with
His calloused and wrinkled hands
Something his old frame can lift and hold
Like a moment, or a memory he can be proud of
Until the last of his august days

Yet he found what he's searching for
The last minutes of a ball game
I can hear the ecstatic crowd roaring
As the game dribbles to its end
The buzzer sounds over triumph and defeat
Then the old man closes his phone,
Drinks from his jug, and fixed his things
He looked at me as he stood
Then walks away slowly, losing himself
Beyond a sea of concrete

I am deeply moved by the sway
Of your silhouette dancing
Undulating under the influence of first light
When blood is fissured in the sky
And rush from the fleeting bliss
Permeates the unevenness of your skin
As it touches mine
Our minds forged from chaos
Burning deep into the surreal
Where it shudders under
The whims of the dauntless heart
Where echoes of the lost souls screaming
Wanes into lowly cackles of new men
Slowly fading like ripples on the water
Ebbing and flowing into the white horizon
Alas, alas! the hour's at hand
The night had parted and the sun has come!

I remember still
When the Amihan knocked me down
And the neon lights flashing

Embraced by the Milky Way
And the hauntingly vivid
Recollections of past encounters

A peek into eternity
Befuddling fluid motions
And emotions of the here and now

If only to suppress the
Orchestrated sound of a beating heart
As an eloquent silence passed

But the echoes reverberate
Through the unrelenting crowd
As rhythmic fragments hit and struck

And the night's dance swayed into
a frantic blur, as my lenses focused on the disarray amidst the haze

That is my bleeding head
And my hopeless heart
Finally finding its place

Then the moment seized to play
And the warm skein of feelings wrapped
Around my skin broke away

The final scene recurs
Each time the wind blows
As a sad memory, a curse

A fitting end to a moment wasted
A lesson from the anguished
The final release of the vanquished soul

Life begins at the toil of day as the sun sends the soil its sustenance and grace
A bewildered gaze runs among the broken pipes
Singing lively melodies of morbid songs
Sonorous voices fills the halls
Stirring smoked souls to depart
In transitory delusion and illusory smiles

Forever takes eternity
Baring lifeless conduits with broken lids
Suffering in an endless void
With only a speck of hope for remedy
Humor me of great a comedy so tragic
And happy

Withered bones ebb and flow like a lotus on a river
Swimming to the tune of the current
Looking at the distant shore
Never to find meaning or solace to the clamoring of jesters
Scattered on lively streets

Rainbows splattered on the roundabout
As seas of people dance around the light of neon streamers floating above the busy lanes
An amalgam of putrid aroma and the sweet stench of humanity closing in on the lone stranger walking unfamiliar streets

As chaos purge the fleeting day
Smoke oozes out of the crevices
Sending an upward haze of puzzling excitement
Of grotesque beauty
A momentary lapse of senses sending strange visions of the smoldering sun
Melting the mundane and mediocre forming into one

The tunnel grows bigger as light shines bright at the end
A shrine stands at the center of chaotic delusions
An ironic array of ancient culture and blasphemous fates

The walker stands in the middle of the sea
Devoid of meaning and reason
Rekindling the lost touch of the divine
Screaming at the pharaohs above the pyramids
Holding life and death or the meaning thereof

The crackling sunset ruptures by the bay
The crashing waves silencing the loud banter inside the strangers head
A realization comes
Like a lucid dream where he wakes
And finally finds for himself that his

Unseating bottles of frenzied spirits,
Crushing cigarettes on tabletops
The dance rages on into dim lit alleys and streets
And on to the boulevards of our consciousness
Like wildfire burning and the smoke wrapping the senses,
Stopping the functions of the mind
The vivid lapsing into a frantic blur
Until it became a silhouette that sways
With the moon's silver light
The streetlights standing as watchmen of the night
Witnesses to the somber euphoria of the inebriated,
Singing in callous revelries,
Exalting to the gods of liquor
The blessing of temporary forgetfulness
For all things vile and wretched
For all the world that is not dancing

What use are our senses
If we cannot perceive
The scabbed lesions of our pretensions
With melancholic bliss
We falter in this gruesome
Mess we're in
Where we try and fit in

Here comes our death
From underbelly of consciousness
Putrid and decadent
As our eyes are blinded by the lies
Our ears buzzing from the constant flies
Tongues stripped, our voices drowned
We shed the skin like snakes on the ground

The death of me and you
No use of waiting for it to come
For it has devoured time
And space isn't as much sound
It is here, it is now
We are dying you and I
We are food for worms
Vultures tearing our flesh apart

Fear not the gentle night
For it is the blinding light that blinds
Reason not, with sun the that shines
For you may not know
That it is death that lights our lives

Deeper into the night
Like the whirring whispers
That seeps silently into sleepy ears

Just as broken dreams
Once again move in flight
Across dark alleys and streets
Beguiled by the silver light

I am tired
I am broken
I am dying

The candle light shouts
As the wind eases its wings
Into the lonely flame's heart
Bidding goodnight

Goodbye, goodbye
For the last light fizzles
Into vacant oblivion
As if it's not there nor ever was

They woke up to the peek of the mellow sun
Its rays not permitted by the dark ominous skies of the morning drizzle
As if the day have still the quality of night
Where the shy were shameless, their mirth boisterous
Where the bold haggles on the fringes of revolution
Until slowly the scalding heat of passions from the night passed
And evaporated forming mist and fog and dew.
The time held back
As they strip the night's cloak
Traces of stardust freckled their skin
A reminder of the raucous night
It was mixed feelings of hatred and love
Of loathing and yearning;
Of surrender, or of revolution!
The foundations of the day slowly cackles
As the sun breaks through that thick cloud that hangs above their heads.
All the venery and vanity comes alive
As the sun takes the cover that hides the depravation
The loudness of the roosters' crow in the countryside
Were overpowered by the boisterous hum of engines
And a people once again facing the grim task of living
Silenced are the laughters and grins and joyous singing
Repressed are the dancing and carousing
Dissolved again are the reveries for the death of the sun!

The sun erupts at dawn, beaming a wistful smile down the broken fields of men. As roosters crow before the light breaks completely through the hushed darkness of night. A house sits staring at the sight of hurried feet clamoring up and down the cold streets of the morning, thick fog form silhouettes of weary flesh dancing at the sight of light. Warm sheets cloak my aching bones as I try to get back to sleep, turning from one side to the other, finding the spot where I can fit in. Holding onto that shadow drifting like a leaf floating on a river, under the inferring eyes of a smiling moon. A dame playing hide and seek, playful and sly, a demon disguised as an angel. Slowly, all the banter and dispensable chattering disappeared like air bursting on a bubble, suddenly there was silence. Silence creeping inside me like ghoulish arms dragging me to sleep. Darkness shrouded me and all the light became the cobwebs on a cupboard in a house rotting on a forsaken shore; tiny, fickle, weak. All the noise had stopped except for the voice screaming from the other side of my mind. Finding its way onto the surface; an overdue dream or an unaddressed  reminiscing from the past. It gets louder and louder, until I can almost hear the shouting beside me. A knock on the door woke me up and reminded me that I wasn’t alone, and won’t be for an indefinite period of time. Dancing under the lights of victory,
In that instant all the fears that had attached inside me dissipated,
Like water on a hot sunny day,
It felt like I am dancing with you in this dream;

Now we drown in each other's kiss
While we escape the chaos around us,

To express our anger and disgust;

Can unriddle the inescapable secrecy
Of our grief and sorrow

When meter and rhyme

When our voices are lost in the byzantine corridors of the abyss;
When our crystalline tears that pierces the sacred ground does not nourish life;
Then our actions must remain true
As conduits of our truths, our emotions, and our insatiable passion to live and breathe the same august air, and share the bounty of the sacred soil and seas;
To collectively enjoy the warmth of the flames as it slowly devours the firewood
Crackling in the serene silence of the long night;
When words are not enough then may this eternal dance keep the bonfire of life burning through the ages

From all the people that had come by and stopped, from those who walked beside, and those who ran with us amidst the fast changing of the sun.
You still and ever will, remind me of that time.

Nightfall
giofuellos Aug 2017
Indeed, darkness had wrapped
It's vicious arms around me,
And the thought of escape,
Leaks and floats faraway,
In places unreacheable.

This fate, I accept and face,
With delirious thoughts
I move forward, onward,
To a dream of paradise,
Where bliss never ends.

This nightfall is forever,
But until the beat stops,
My mind will rage on,
And catch the fireflies,
Dancing atop my grave.

Until then, my sweet salvation.
Flying endlessly from nowhere,
I will watch the mirth
On your face, as you dance
Each time the sun rises and fades.

The old man laughs at the bleak horizon
As he yokes the ship that pulls the shores
The blissfull end of days seems unsure
When justice sleeps with the wolves
And the unholy, cloaks the hallow soil
With black, poisonous dust
Bells toll and walls are tumbled, the chanting of the masses destroys the courts
But the days of disquiet remains unheard
For the gods that sweeps the earth's soil
Had forsaken us all.

It is now the moment I feared,
When the ghoulish arms of time
Slowly drags me closer into the precipice of life.
Let the ignorance from that eternal return be
Cloaked with happiness, with memories of joyous youth.
Let the lightness of the clouds
Slowly rock me to that never ending sleep.
Let the winds give me wings
And sway me as the feather sways lightly,
As the long shadows of the setting sun inches into the dark abyss
And may the journey back be
Calmer than the riotous marching bands of life.

You were there in the driver's seat of memories,
Inching your way through the roads and side streets of life,
Through laughters and chaos and the dull traffic lights.
Witness to the rising and falling of the heavens,
And ears to the after-midnight realizations of men.
Radiant in your losing and finding,
The transient souls passing the doors of your wakeness.
And the sun and rain and hail and the gusts of wind never breaks,
The soul that keeps you alive O' old glory.
Now, as the moments pass from finitude into infinity
When the frantic going turns into a deep peaceful sleep,
May your twilight be as colorful as the red sun's mirage over the horizon,
And may your dreams be as animated as your waking life!

To victory, always!

in the still darkness
liquid crystals shatter
on tattered roofs of houses

waiting for the strong thuds
that would wake the silence
that had cloaked the night

the heavens weep for the broken,
the storm roars for the unheard!

My pencil breaks each time it touches paper
Like a metaphor on the impermanence
Of thoughts racing like bicycles on dusty
Cobbled roads, crashing, colliding
Scraping the dust and inhaling it like coke

Infinity! I am beyond the parchment
Contradictions of life!
The metaphysical drums resounding
In complete surrender to the
Violence of the pencil lead etching
On the paper's blank lifeless face

What does the words even mean, other than
Mere symbols for our raging heads,
Addicted to meaning
Water, sharpener, wallet, clock,
Pomade, hair comb sitting on a
floating desk of wood, willed
By a hand delirious for escape!

My moonlight, you warm the skein that wraps the tender walls of my heart
Your delicate fingers glide through the golden strings of the harp
That guides me to slumber in our tender paradise
Where you and I watch the universe unfold, and spiral
And make turn, and make waves and dream of celestial saccharine music
Your voice a Delphic phantom still unknown to mine
My moonlight, you I know are a fleeting silhouette in the window next to my soul
That rises and falls and dims into oblivion leaving me behind in the dark wandering

Your eyes stab delicate passions into my chest
Cupid’s arrow piercing the absurd that had formed in my breast
Your smile, wry yet sweet, a deep meaningful nothingness
O Goddess, O Venus you have sent me from the abyss
And my loneliness have turned into sweet wine that I drank
With Bacchus I bathe on the springs of callous revelry
For you my moonlight, my heavenly star I wake
The most beautiful being
My eyes ever laid upon

Only god forgives
giofuellos Jun 2021
Only god forgives,
Not the mason’s hammer
Nor the worker’s fists;
Only god forgives,
Not the farmer’s sickle
Nor their plows sitting idle
On lands they can’t toil;
Only god forgives,
Not the writer’s pen
Bleeding the ink of indignation,
Overflowing with grief and anger;
     Wizards transmuting pencil lead
     Into bullets that can pierce the hollow man’s breast;
Only god forgives,
Not the artist’s brush
Stripping naked the arrogance of centuries
On the turbulent canvas of history
For everyone to see:

That it is men and not gods
That block the sun rising in the East
High above their steel mountains
Holding the moon ransom,
Locked in prison never to dream,
Never to give solace nor the sereneness of sleep

Only god forgives, only gods forgive!
Not the restless masses, not the people rising!
Only god forgives, only god betrays
But never our hands, our fists,
Never our hearts, never our memories!

Farewell, stranger
giofuellos Jan 2022
I will miss the way you wake me up at night
When the soft moonlight embraces the windowsills
And you would whisper to me your good memories and the bad ones
When you trace your dreams onto my back
And when your warmth touches mine as we fall asleep safe in each others arms

I will miss your kiss, in the morning,
way past the rising of the sun
When the streets are busy with their comings and goings
When the world that surrounds us revolves in chaos
But we are at our own pace just admiring what we have

I will miss your face, those gentle eyes those soft lips that cushions the anger and hurt you try to hold inside
I will miss those days i can't count on my fingers when we made each other happy
We were the best persons we can be
In those moments frozen forever in time

Each time the rain pours
She caresses the memories left on her lips,
Enjoying the rhythmic fragments
Of sweat dripping upon her *******,
And the rousing emotions inside her thighs,
Crashing in superfluous ecstasy of unhinged passions.
Constantly yearning for the satisfying madness of the flesh.
And the callousness of naked warmth Igniting the embers of a cold dreary heart.

The times in which the fire they burn
Leave the scars of sorrow graved
Inside her rotting flesh
And the fleeting remembrance
Of an illusion floating within her
Above the bedrooms of lust
Screaming, moaning, rising and falling
Stopping the earth's spin
Seized inside a moment of eternal bliss.

On running
giofuellos Oct 2018
I missed a run again and my conscience shouts at me in anger.

Apparently, it needed a break from the monotonous hum of hasty, disquiet fingerings for buzzer beater deadline finishes,
and a respite for smashing cushions all day.
