Time took you before we were ready.
We thought we’d have you for a little longer
for another year at least
Or possibly two..
It was too soon
Unexpected

But it ate you slowly..
then all at once
If we’d known before it wouldn’t have devoured you
Not even have tasted you
By the time we knew it'd already taken a big ol bite

But Nobody knew
Nobody paid attention
We just wanted your attention
Until..There was no more for you to give
Then we knew

By then it was too late

Since then it wanted more and more
Couldn't get enough
Always wanted more
Until
There wasn’t any more of you to take

You were gone
No longer here
It felt surreal

But nothing could've stopped it
They tried
Then gave up after two months
Took you home
Left you there
Let it finish you

It finished you alright
In a non discrete way

Now that you're gone
And you’re attention is gone
Now we’re aware

Now we’re left without you
We have regret
Despair

An empty space

Were tearing each other apart
Trying to prove were the best
Trying to make up for the empty space

We’re trying to make up for our ignorance
For not knowing any sooner
For giving it a chance to taste you
For letting it taste you

For letting you be eaten by something
Something that we’ve all worked together to cause
Something that shouldn't exist
Something we’ve all created ourselves
Something that we blame
But don’t take credit for creating.

Mot until we’re affected by it
Is it that we try to do something about it
But how?
How do we destroy something we created
How do we live?
knowing we created a disease that does nothing
Nothing but take lives.
