everlasting awe
a dance when sighted across the street
goodness, trust, virginity
stars and heights and depths
breathless, breathtaking words
late night is the only time to talk
smilekissing
he sun she moon one earth
the ******* of thoughts
the licking of dreams
youth, old age, immortality
afterthoughts of bliss

Together as we lay down where time begins
Where time has gone a limb sprouts from a pear
Our kisses taught us all the outs and ins
Coming and going always found us there

To hold back is to touch as touchers know
Where time renews a trunk sprouts from a limb
Such growing backwards taught our bodies so
To lose a him in her and her in him

Time gathers to a pause where trunk strikes ground
There is a double speed in going slow
We stopped to find our coming turned around
A pear was what we were where we would go

The seed is in the ground all come to kiss
Where time stops we lie down no end to this

there are bubbles on your eyelashes
and air in your cheeks
your hair moves without you

i stare at you when you’re not looking
but you only want to read
what i write when it’s about you

i hold your hand under the water
i want to stay down here with you
but i can’t stop myself from floating

it makes me sad how much better
we are when we’re not ourselves

but i’ll do anything to be happy

I always thought I'd fall in love with a poet
A man who loved me almost as much as he loved words
Who composed verses in his head
While ******* my ear with his tongue
Instead, I fell in love with a fisherman with
crackerjack hands and icy morals
An Othello, not an Orsino
He loves me more than he loves love
Because we don't always fall in love with ourselves
Thank God.

Love-shaped in the
forest womb
I kept my eyes on
You.

I’ve spent so long
proving myself but
it turns out
you can’t earn
sainthood
after all;

to be alone
in the dark
is to be
yourself.
