Blueberries, bananas, apples that fall

Berries and pears, we love them all

Fresh rainwater, summer heat

The part of plants that we can eat

Inside the fruit, contains the seeds

Found on bushes, grown on trees

Tomato plants, of heights will rise

With soil and compost, fertilise

Seeds we scatter, seeds we sow

All around the world they grow

Celebrate at food events

Cities, countries, continents

Supermarkets, stalls be manned

Frozen, dried, fresh or canned

Varied fruits ripen with time

Fresh fruit salad, shall we dine

A complement of any meal

Fruits to blend and fruits to peel

Expectations to surpass

Blended poured into a glass

Garden fruit and fruit in tins

Daily fibre, vitamins

Large vineyards, where growers take

From tiny buds, to blossomed grape

Strawberry smoothie, raspberry jam

Tomato sandwich, cheese and ham

Assembled fruit upon the plate

Master-chef provide your rate

Fertilisation, to life’s first cry

The organisms we classify

From offspring birth, to growing seed

Consuming nature of which to feed

The right conditions to survive

Escape of danger, aim to thrive

Animals will locate their mate

Offspring growth of varied rate

Reproductive group divide

From egg-laying to bearing live

Seeds and eggs adapted for

Protection and a nutrient store

The formation of the embryo

Increasing cells divide and grow

A vital role, to be aware

Growth, development and repair

Genetics differ and they range

The young mature, their features change

To die, cells cease to multiply

To rot – bacteria and fungi

Of varied plants, in turn they sway

From parent plants, to land away

Nutrients pass there to remain

Recycled in this vast food chain

Varied species of the kingdom

Across our earthly home

From sponges to the octopus

Without a backbone

Laying small eggs

Or a centimetre long

Astounding invertebrates

There outer skin is strong

Upon an organism

There they choose to lay

Eggs for a food source

Paralyse their prey

As the insect grows

So rapidly within

A time of which to moult

Remove their outer skin

The expanding colony

Survival of the team

Young bees evolving

From a single queen

Shed their exoskeleton

Insect crawling out

Expansion of their wings

Body drying out

Beginning as larvae

From the eggs they hatch

Dramatic transformation

Metamorphosis match

Early stages of nurture, nature commence

Embracing their vulnerability

The warmth of parental care

Expansion and development

Protection from within

Safety of the ******, comfort living

Nutritional supply through the umbilical cord

Where life has begun

There are herbivores ready to run

Gestures of giraffes

Leaping deer

We can but revere

Kangaroo offspring, resting pouch

The young will latch

Preparation for a time beyond

Bonding baboons, close knit group

Enveloped in parental care

Weaned through time, skills combine

Destined to change made to adapt

Camouflaged cheetah cubs

Lion’s thick mane

No longer the same

Daring displays of dominant males

Attainment of adulthood, meet lioness

Echoes of elephants, trumpeting trunks

Whistling whales, swim in song

Advancement in accord, accrued stage

Ripened age
