the replacement
francis mcclean Aug 2014
i look up to the skies
and realise,
they're different now.

thick white lines that hang
and spread; instead of dissipating
like yesteryear.

while all around me, people
stare down @ their
electronic devices.

the world has disappeared
that i knew as a child;
i'm not too enamoured of the
replacement.

unsure
francis mcclean Aug 2014
i know i'm not the only one
that wants to know
the unknowable.

lots of versions
lots of theories,
but never truly knowing
for sure.

all i can do
is accept the frustration
of knowing that
i'll never know.

i can't remember
francis mcclean Aug 2014
trying to remember
the last time
a smile
reached my eyes.

i can't.
