Our love

The "us" they say, will never be.
But no matter what they say,
they don't know you and me.
We've made our way across a stormy sea,
locked our hearts together,
and thrown away the key.

We will just restart,
when they let us be,
and stop keeping us apart.
They aren't really that smart,
when it comes to our love,
we'll always be there, in body, mind, and heart.

I'm not quite sure if I should keep the second verse, any opinions?

When the decorative lights turn on,
I'm taken back to midnight dances under the stars,
our first kiss, you holding me in your arms,

the day that wish came true,
was the day I said "I Do."

When your around I'm scared you'll hear my pounding heart,
and so I walk away.
I hate this little fear of mine, that you won't like me back,
and so I say nothing.
I'm scared of what my friends might think, and that they will tell,
so I keep this to myself.
When I hear my name called in the hall way, I hope it is you,
but it never is.
And so I keep hoping, that maybe someday I'll find the courage,
to tell you how I feel.

Why be jealous of me?

Why are you jealous of me?
Maybe a few lonely guys
tried to get me as their own.
But I'm not the pretty one,
I'm not the smart and athletic one.
I'm not the one that gets everything right.
Heck, I don't even know who I am yet.
So why are you jealous of me?

What does a kiss mean to you?
For me, well, it's a sign of effection.
You said over and over you loved me.
But I'm still waiting for that kiss,
even though you walked out on me.

My Homeland

I'm struggling to find a place in this new and distant land.
In a place where I'm not myself.
Where I don't belong.
I just want to go home, yet no one understands.
I need to be in my homeland.
