The painted sunrise
of new beginnings
washes away fears and doubts
from yesterday's fight to survive.
Every day's a battle
but it's only one small part of the war.
Hope is the hand holding yours,
lifting you up,
when you have fallen.
Sleepless and thoughtful
I can't stop thinking of you
The question of what if creeps through
The darkest shadows of my mind
Slinking through cobwebs
Peeking round corners
It pushes its way forward
Slowly making it through
To front and center stage
It sheds its worn cloak
Dust flies through the light
Showering other thoughts with filth
What If's eyes shine
It begins to dance
Throwing its arms up
Causing a scene
All eyes on it
No use trying to hide
Or to even deny
That What If fills my mind.
Your beautiful struggles hold me captive
The ground on which you stand
Opens wide, calling for you
The cracks spread fast

But I see how you stand
Your face to the wind
Arms folded
Eyes open wide

You won't let the end take you so easily
You'll put up a fight; kicking and clawing
Till it spits you all out
And puts you right back.

But all the while
Till that day should come
I watch your trials, and think to myself
Your beautiful struggles hold me captive.
I just want to feel the heat
of
you next to me

Hold me even closer
and
tell me a lie

Something so beautiful
that
I'll have no choice

But to trust in your words
and
forever dream

Lul me to sleep
Make me concede
Don't let this stop

I want you to be here
stay
infinitely

If only for tonight
just
let me believe.
I crave you now,
My sweet addiction.
Wrap you up,
and take a bite.
You're bitter sweet,
My secret delight.
Trust not in what you see,
But what you feel.
