Where are the role models?
Errol Munroe Oct 2014
Where are the role models?
Who do I admire?
The *** and drug obsessed rapper?
The naked model in the magazine?
Who?

Where is the father figure in that single mother home?
Or the concerned and responsible mother of two?

Where is the morals in society?
Tell me
Where can I find them?

Everyone seems absorbed by popularity
Acceptance
Is this the reason we expose our bodies?
Disregard our morals?
Sully our name?

Where are the role models?
The positive influence?
The man holding the door for the young lady?
The mother struggling to put her children through college?

I'm in despair
Will I succumb to the warped society?
Will I trade my personal respect,
for a robe knitted of shameful glory?

I'm afraid
*Where did all the good people go?

He was...
Errol Munroe Oct 2014
He was the grey sky during the roughest weathers
with mental afflictions as loud as thunder
and a knife as sharp as lightening

He was a darker blue than the fathomless depths of the ocean
yet had eyes just as deep
with waves that drowned out his pleas
and always kept him drowning to stay afloat

He was the night sky without the grace of stars
the lonely moon
the howl of the lost wolf
the crack of a feeble branch

he was the rain
the damp soil
the little puddle created, staring up at his relfection
Writer's note:
the first stanza introduces the boy as depressed with unsettling thoughts and a motive of self harm
the second stanza shows just how depressed he was and how it affected him
the third stanza has many meanings, one being he was alone and breaking
the last stanza shows his fall/death (the rain) and jumping to the last 2 stanzas was his puddle (his blood) looking up at himself (he was the grey night sky)

Memories
Errol Munroe Oct 2014
And to be real, all you do have left in the end are the memories
those fragments in time that you were able save
whether happy or sad, good or bad
it's pretty amazing how in those moments it doesn't seem like much
but when you look at it now
your are transferred to a nomadic life of nostalgia
giving gold pennies and buckskins to have the chance to experience
that once common event, now
a coveted treasure buried deep inside your mind.
