amongst the twinkling blue lights
with the shouts of other youth filling my frown
i look to the sky

i look to the sky
searching for a moon
i search and search

because i know if
we look at the same
fated moment for that brief second
it's as if nothing had changed

through all the love lost
falling out of it
and missed calls
and tears

and minutes

and seconds

and hours

and weeks

and years

i haven't heard your laugh

you and i can see
our moon
our love
that rooftop where you held me when i cried
and we are the same

and we are the same
that blue light you saw. sitting with her.
with her.
and i know

i hope
i dream
i ache
that you will know me
again

through the missing moon
i'll wait
i'll look
i'll search

you didn't call

i was so glad
it wasn't you

that rush of air
and then
nothing

you still live
but i can't hear you
you read your bible
those words she knows

she knows

and i wait
to make sure
it wasn't you

i might pray
if you would come back
i'll pray

for us.
