Roller Coaster
Ellie Lievre Oct 2016
Your mind is a roller-coaster
Up, down, up, down
Trapped on a moving ride
There is nowhere to hide

Embrace the darkness that
Consumes you, it will never go away
Embrace the euphoria, the iridescent
Gloom that will reveal all you are
In the world of today, there are no secrets

Live life like a roller-coaster
All the faces blur from the speed
And their voices burn holes in your skin
But is there a you to burn?

And maybe one day they will try to help you
Give you chemicals that change your brain or
Talk to you, constant company

But sooner or later you will crash, a virtue or a vice?
Watch as the fire consumes you
And as voices emerge from the depths of your mind to talk to you
A false illusion
Everything is real and imaginary at the same time
But can you tell which is which?

One day, you will take your last breath
I hope it’s a good one
For one day, maybe now, maybe in the future
It will be too late

Darkness will overcome you and your mind will become
Clouded
You make that fatal decision
And now you have to die.
