Child of the future

Laying in your cradle place,

Star light through the window

Shining softly on your face.

By  the time you're grown, Child

The proud starships will  soar!

So sleep deep, softly, now, Child

The Future's at your door!

Play in the SUN,  Child.

Earth-wind sweet caresses you.

By the time you're all grown up

An  alien wind  will do.

The Children that you bear, Child

Will know an alien SUN.

So dream and play and grow today.

Your  journey's just begun.
As mighty as the savage broom
Tearing at the dusty floor,
In futuristic towns on Mars
And ancient towns of yore!

Through the ages, swish swish swish!
Moving multi-tons of sand.
Making shacks and starships neat
For the stately tread of Man!
The Great Snows came when Man was slight!

The wild winds stung and Life was hard!

But we learned of clothes and spears and FIRE!!

When the Warm Times came, we'd found the Lord!!!

Then came the Times of the Holocausts!

We ripped First World with the Hell of Wars!

But a few still saw the Vision grow:
We learned to journey to the STARS!

When our first SUN died we felt great fright.

But we found other Stars give HEAT and LIGHT!

Then the Black Holes came and they cost us dear.

We lost our Worlds,
But we're still here!

Now the Universe is night.

The experts say we won't survive!!

For the Stars are cold and they give no light.

Poppy ****!!

There are more ways than one to survive!

If it hadn't been for the Snows
And the Nuclear Wars
And the times of Hell with the DYING STARS!

If God hadn't driven us to the brink;

We'd have never learned to think!
In those days when we were launching
I was only ten.
I heard the awesome call to Space.
I ache to go again!

I long to see the
Earth float blue
  Above the silver Moon!
I thirst to see the rockets soar
Pushed by their FLAMING PLUME!

My nostalgia's for the Future!
For those good new days on Mars!
I long to know of gentle Beings
Who live round other stars!

I want to know the fate of Man
And the fate of all Earth's Creatures!
I want to know if Souls and Love
Can dwell in those with Different Features!

My Nostalgia's for the Future
For those good new days Above!
I want to know if times of war
Give way to times of Love.

I want to know of where we GO
Not where we've simply been!
My nostalgia's for tomorrow
For the stars beyond the Sun.

Though we have gone ten thousand years
Our Journey's just begun!
Age upon age,
The eons pass.
The  Earth goes round and round
Its flaming Star
The Mountains are smoothed
Into Valleys,
The Oceans into plains.
Kingdoms rise, and reign,
And fall,
To legends
Soon forgotten.
And through these ages
One sits high above the  Earth
Watching it from afar.
The cry of all Sparrows is known to Him
And the cries of the restless wild Gulls
And the snorting of restless Ponies
  And every splash of Amoebas.
Nothing is lost to His eyes,
No sound to His ears,
And not one scent to His nostrils.

The centuries pass as moments for Him.

The zillions pass as days.
Eons pass without His blinking
He does not notice the difference
between them.
Tiny, widdle Aliens in the  red, red rain!
Just what you are, Scientists can’t explain!
You go a pitta-patting to the pretty,  placid ground,
The weirdest little Creatures for a billion miles around!

Did Jesus make you up in cold, cold Space,
Ten million miles above us in a wild and secret place?
Did you reach our planet on a meteor's rocky side?
A riding rocks is poky but a jazzy way to ride

I’m glad the Cosmos has you!
Such a kooky thing to be!
That our questions aren’t all answered
And our thoughts can frolic free!

You might have tortured Pharaoh several thousand years ago,
When concepts of Human freedoms were not true and were not so.
ET’s  and Freedom Seekers might have fought a common foe.
When a crazy Shepherd had a dream to “Let my People go!!!”

Cause a billion wittle Aliens fell and bloodied
 Egypt’s ancient seas.
I stand before the Cosmos free to think and live
And worship as I please!
The back story about this poem is, a very rigorous science web site had an article about some strange, single-celled, red Life that fell from the sky in India. It was not the usual Red Tide Algae. It was something not ever noticed before and some Scientists were speculating that it might actually be from Space! I wondered if I could use as an opportunity to witness. Of course I knew a simple comment would never pass their censors. They don't allow every comment to be published. But I knew poetry had a chance (which may be why  the first chapter of Genesis is poetry.)  So I wrote this poem. They used it!
Speeding like a silver dove
Through the velvetness of Space.

Hunting for great, brand new worlds
Where Man may learn his final place.
In the Universe of stars
Past the CREVICES of Mars.
Past the Worlds that we did know.

Where is Heaven?
Where is Hell?
Where are worlds where Man may dwell?
Where are Answers to his quests?
Where are Worlds
Where Love e exists?

Where are Worlds
that have no frights?
Past Eternal Velvet Nights.

What is Man that he may go
Above his Earth and to and fro?

Despite the Fallen Angel's rage
Man has lived another age
Stars are not silent!
No! They sing!!!!
