You
Elizabeth Roth Jul 2013
You
French made jacket
faux-hawk fancy free
dancing gait tiptoeing
dreaming of the sea

mumbling, musing
finally light and free
hollowed out and yet
engorged with intricacies

sloping, sweeping
eyes glued to me
dripping sweetness
and sensitivity.

Tomorrow
Elizabeth Roth Apr 2013
My sweet man, you don’t have me.
But, baby, you’ve got my memory.
And you’ll always have my love.
That’s one thing that never leaves.

How can one choose to control their life?
Tomorrow I’ll be in a collision and die.
Goodbye, Goodbye, my dear goodbye.
What’s life worth living
if you can’t say you tried?
So long, pain. Goodbye, goodbye.
I must look out for myself
and leave you behind.

What wisdom exists?
Who knows what I’m to do?
So many signs I’ve missed
That’s when I should’ve left you.

How can one choose to control their life?
Tomorrow I’ll be in a collision and die.
Goodbye, Goodbye, my dear goodbye.
What’s life worth living
if you can’t say you tried?
So long, pain. Goodbye, goodbye.
I must look out for myself
and leave you behind.

My first love
You’ve torn me down
Alone, alive, and always around

How can one choose to control their life?
Yesterday I was in a collision and died.
Good morning, my dear, Hi.
What’s life worth living
if I can’t say I tried?
How do you do, pain. I’m alive, alive.
I must look out for myself
But I can’t leave you behind.

My sweet man, you have me.
Baby, we have our memories.
And you’ll always have my love.
That’s one thing that never leaves.
For Kyle.

You've never held me so closely
or as tenderly, dear.
The lies built up inside you
and created a barrier of fear.

Your smile has never been as real
or as heartbreakingly sweet.
Your heart thumped so timely
without skipping one beat.

I sensed your truth
for the first time yesterday
I wanted you more than ever
and in so many more ways.
I wanted you back without waiting
the long, coming days.
To run free, away from your disease
and into the sun's bright rays.
I only long for you, love
without all of your pain.

You really gave me comfort
I can never explain
I only hope to have it back
one day, after your addiction wanes.

Meant Might Be
Elizabeth Roth Feb 2013
Is it possible that "meant" might be?
That I need you and you need me?

Maybe you and I
We are meant to be
With my hand in yours
Somewhere by the sea.

Because one day
life will cease
On this we can agree
But until then I know
I will love you
relentlessly

Squeezing the Juice
Elizabeth Roth Feb 2013
A flame flickers from its own smoke
as you and I flee and fight eternity
it's not our own, but that of our country.

We all move toward the same destiny
It's the stuff in the middle
in which we differ.
Time is always present
Only for some it's quicker...
You can't fight your own life
for it only makes you bitter.

Why waste another minute
experience-less and lame?
Though time is still moving,
life isn't the same.

Squeeze the day;
with its juice make joy.
Enjoy the life you have
without being coy.

Sweetness in "Stupidity"
Elizabeth Roth Jan 2013
Defense* is everything
Heart is nothing
Leaving each other never means loving.

What's that saying about drivers?
Be a defensive one...
Always pushing, always abandoning
Never devoted, just done.

When did society become so selfish and scared?
So many dead and dying with hearts beyond repair.

**** fleeing, stick around.
Forigve mistakes, don't push someone out.
Don't leave someone when they're down.

Stop thinking about yourself
and LOVE
Quit worrying about you pain
and HELP
Give others what they deserve
and TRUST

Embrace the sweetness in what society considers "stupidity"
Stay with them - because we're all human...aren't we?

Je vous attends.
Elizabeth Roth Jan 2013
C'est comme dit The Smiths,

"If I seem a little strange
That's because I am
But I know that you would like me
If only you could see me
If only you could meet me
I don't have much in my life
But take it - it's yours"

Je vous aime. Vous ne verrez jamais?
Nous s'emboîtions comme les pieces d'un puzzle.
Laissez-moi de rentrer.
Laissez-moi de vous connaître.
Elizabeth Roth Nov 2012
If death knocks on your door; invite it in.
Don't fight it off; you won't win.
Welcome it as you would welcome your kin.
In this ocean known as life, we all drown or swim.

Only some of us get eaten by sharks...

They sneak up and pull us into the dark.
    We're gone too soon
With no chance to say goodbye.
    The sharks always succeed
Although we may try.
    We'll kick
        and scream
            and flail about
They'll bring us down; without doubt.

When death comes knocking
    Don't bother locking.
Let it in, sit down to chat
    And in doing that...

You'll solve the great mystery
No one has lived to unravel.
Where do we go?
        What do we see?
                Do we ever come back?
                        Or stay eternally?

If a shark takes me; so be it.
    Drowning is unpleasant, too.
I do love mysteries, though
And one day I'll solve this one
Just as you'll all do.

Just As Today Was Our First
Elizabeth Roth Oct 2012
I love you just as every day was our first
also as it could be our last.
I love you for present, future, and past.

I doubt we'll fight one another
I need only fight myself
From over-reacting and being rash
And putting my emotions upon a shelf.

Why is it always first response
To blame outside yourself
When dilemma comes from
A spirit without inner health.

One thing I can promise you
Though I may cause you distress
Is to apologize and learn for future
I will guarantee you my best
Your love I will not test
Dear I won't blame you
For issues you cannot grasp.

I adore your scent and the smile
that flees from your face
to counteract your sadness which
within you has no rightful place.

When you touch me reality disappears
The world fades along with my tears
Your body blends in with mine
Together we create a never ending line.

Your honesty is a blessing
Your kindness is resfreshing
Your care and concern
breathe life into my being.

Your affection is an element
with a half-life of forever
on my skin and mind and spirit
your kisses tingle and linger.

No other one could do what you do
And so I am thankful to have met you
Thank you for letting me in, dear
I promise to take care
and caution with your life
I won't ask to be your wife.
I need only know I have your love
And promise to give you mine
I need no contract to bind our time
We needn't share space or money or bills
The only thing I ask we share with
one another is the true love neither us
can describe, though I've done my best here
I know it's not quite right.

**There will never exist a man I love
as much as or the way I love you.
So you have me unconditionally
until our life together is through.

Waltzing With Emotions
Elizabeth Roth Oct 2012
So I say you say
     differently
Meaning the same thing
     similarly
I don't understand
     Dont get me
We're all like this
     Aren't we?

I am waiting on you, you're waiting on me
Nothing will happen with our mentality.

I cry and fight and shy away
you might come back
     But you won't stay
So I sigh and mope another day

Fleeing, fighting, ******* scared
You'll hate me if you are dared

I can't hide the bad parts
For then, too I'll hide the good
   I wouldn't leave you
     Even if I could

Should you want me around
I'll show you my world
And if you should
        Laugh
          Cry
        Yell or
      Abandon
We'll waltz in slow motion
Until we find the devotion
To understand one another's
                 Faults
                Habits
            Desires and
            **Emotions
Elizabeth Roth Oct 2012
There's comfort in this
And joy in that
My lips planted a kiss
That never gave back

So I tried to leave
And tried again
My arms were glued
Tightly to him.

So loosely we clung
To our new found mood
And drank in the day
Which was slightly subdued

Only to find
We could care less
If I am in his arms
And he under mine
There's comfort in this
And joy in that.

Invasion
Elizabeth Roth Oct 2012
I tossed and turned all night through
I slept not but dreamt of you.
I was pretty, my hair was messy
You wanted me and your mother knew.

Rolling and rolling over and either
You stayed with me
But made me a liar.

I awoke from my awakened state
To find my pain all the same.
You are broken, dear
And I am not to blame.

LAST NIGHT I DREAMT
SOMEBODY LOVED ME
TO WAKE AND FIND
THOSE DAYDREAMS, TOO.

I FIND HIM LOVELY
BUT SHIELDED IS HE
AND SO I DREAM
AND DREAMT OF YOU.

— The End —
