A sad and lonely man
climbs down from his steeple
I found him in the antique store
amongst the millions of others like him
yet he stood out
a sad and lonely soul
confused of humanity
he ran from it all

he writes of change and lonely cities
i think I'll smoke
and wonder how he would've felt
if someone came to save him
then again
not everyone's desire is to be saved

billion souls
Elisha Machado Aug 2015
the older I get
it's as if the whole world around me turns to plastic
dripping chemicals into the water
that keeps me alive
i scream and cry
yet the only one to hear me is myself
a billion souls and I'm still alone
if only I made better company

I should be finishing my obligations
But instead I will dream
I will dream of sunshine
and flowers in spring
of water
spitting and raging from the rocks
I think I will dream
of how it feels to plummet
beneath the waters surface
Or how it feels to lay in a field of flowers
Or how the crickets sound when the moon is out
I think I'll dream of a better tomorrow
Where we don't have to dream anymore
