I **** the pain of today
Stab it with my determination
All the pint up tension
Bleeds out onto my hands
As I let go of the knife
Sharpened by misunderstandings
And hear the clash
Of the metal upon the tile floor
I know the deed is done
Today is dead
Tomorrows sure to come

Young and sweet
Cradled by the vine
Like a grape
smooth and untouched

Till I was plucked from all I knew
And thrown into the barrel of reality
Resolve tested with every step
Of their self seeking feet

Till an epiphany
was squeezed out of my desperation
We are all in this together

I allow the impacts to refine me
Fermenting through time
So that I can dine on the knowledge
That I am unmistakably
Intoxicating

How defined is your hand print
Does each finger grace the sand?
Every grain you touch
Moved to improvement
Or do you press down
Abrasive and demanding
The grains flinching as you come down
Your existence changes the world
Every decision, an impact
On the dominos falling into place
So before the sea washes it away
Look down and learn
The definition of your hand print

Vanity
A catty demon
Dominating my thoughts
Who I am
And who I think I am
Blur into a hideous obsession

I sat in loveliness
My hair gold
Like a field of flowing wheat
Skin, a soft ivory

But self possessed eyes
Torment my ability to see
Beauty beyond the visible
Cursing me to live as
the embodiment of
Vanity

Eyes shut
Like red velvet curtains
Slowly opening
As the play begins

Over exaggerated smiles
As she slips into another skin
Becoming the rule of
Normal, happy American
Just an extra in the back
playing off of others reactions
Mimicking expressions
she doesn't understand

She hides her tragedy
Inside of a comedic mask
Until the curtains,
Her eyes close

Slipping back into herself
Only in the comfort of
A dream

I am well grounded
My roots digging deep into wisdom
Perpetuating an inner strength
That can withstand any storm
My virtues out stretch like branches
Baring sweet nourishing fruit
Setting troubled minds at peace
Within the first bits

Come to me when
The sun scotches your calm
Find comfort in the shade of love
Let natures healing breath
Move you like the leaves
Once wrestling, now dancing in joy
Exhale the tension of insignificant conflictions
So that your transformation
might bring change to the world

Disgust
A brown rocky dirt
When soaked in anger
Creates a mud slide of
Contempt
Intentions are covered in filth
The rain, once cleansing
Now increases the slippery
Destruction
Till the rolling aggression admits
Its more trouble than it’s worth
And foolishly
Retreats back into the earth
