Ghosts
Dwight Benedict Feb 2016
he was crushed brittle
with counterfeit kiss;
and buried underneath dead promises.
worms of crawling pain
dug holes any deeper
within the much more broken machine.

blizzard came and went not;
winds blew colder
numbing scars off;
he'd been the ocean
kissed by glaciers and icebergs
any sunlight couldn't melt
to water once more.

he'd awaken breathing the ghost he'd been before.

Waterside
Dwight Benedict Feb 2016
She blinks, together with the stars;
Locks her gaze upon
The luminescent sands above,
Out of reach.
"If you'd had angel wings,
You'd float like massive clouds
And fall like a flightless star,"
I understate.

"I would love how you'd glimpse on me, my dear sun.
And if I'd fall from the night sky,
I would be glad to grant things
You ever wish for,"
She smiles.

So i've known
The garden in my stomach
Has been crowded
With butterflies.

Soliloquy
Dwight Benedict Feb 2016
Underneath my chest,
She digs her ears letting herself in.
Every skip of my heart,
She's said,
Is a life she would ever breathe.
She's got her hand entwined
With mine
And her body wrapped
With my grip vining around.
Trust me,
It's a night to remember.

I let myself lost
To the pulses of her wrists,
To the bloodstream
Flowing back to her heart.
I couldn't put to mind
The last time
I've gotten in a home I belong,
To me, she's both tears and hugs,
Arguments and kisses--
the love and pain.

She's my home.

Lungs and a Heart
Dwight Benedict Feb 2016
"how far can you swim?"
asked my breath;
distracting her scared self
from the fear of drowning.
"as far as you let go,"
i whispered to her.

Bottled Words
Dwight Benedict Feb 2016
she puts love
to her calligraphy
embroidered in letters
remained after the
blitzkrieg of fate.

she's drunk me
with all of
her brewed heart.

Trust on Candelabra
Dwight Benedict Feb 2016
Trust was candles
Melting off
By labyrinth of doubts
And flare of jealousy;
I'd rather be blind
Than lose light.

To her
Dwight Benedict Feb 2016
we somehow forgot
the taste of our lips
beneath the moonlight,
which took our last breaths
and brought us through cold breeze.

the calls we made
were all like smoke whipped away
by rushing wind,
heard the sound of your laughters
that were now blurring in the crowd.

all sweaters of hugs
that warmed me all frozen nights
had become as thin as the clouds tonight.
it all lost the bonfire from burning.

i wondered if i, even once, deserved you;
to her, I loved you,
although it never rhymed.
to her, I loved you,
although pain was it all has become.

The Autumn of Us
Dwight Benedict Feb 2016
A leaf fell,
Trees grew burnt,
Had lost our names inside a heart.
Time gone apart from the clockturns;
We forgot where we sat.
A leaf fell, ever gone away.
Your heart longed cold,
Had swum the abysmal depth of forgetting.
