just once

Just once, could you stop
to see that there is more
to life than warm showers
and electricity

i tried to overlook
but like seedlings, you germinated
roots around my phalanges (like a dandelion)
from where we last touched.

over time and frigid winter weather, the roots
spread. around my metacarpals, intertwined
between my ulna and radius, all the way up
to my humerus and scapula.

by the spring, flowers sprouted just above my
collarbones, embracing my mandible.
little wilted blue petals surrounding me in my bed
each sunrise, but by noon, new petals already have
attached themselves to the receptacle.

by summer, i pluck their petals for amusement. as
they drift away in the breeze i can't help but to
remember you. us. we. and another thing i haven't
determined is whether you have forgotten me
or not.

And she loved him more than petrichor
and over-priced parfume. An over-
whelming wave of amatory prevailed
atop
the animosity. Loathing took a one-
eighty into lust. And all at once, feelings
that were entirely too familiar arose.

"I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way" -Pablo Neruda

Just as the final dispute had concluded, the forbidden phrase
was spoken. It was mutual, however, for it was known that
disfunction and chaos only led to destruction and confusion. It
was a misfortune, that the joy and laughter that at one point
could shake walls had deteriorated. Although, through the eyes
of fellows, the parting of ways was viewed as a kindness.

into a deep slumber, I forced
myself to stay conscious. For
what I had witnessed today
was awfully frightening!

While walking along the
pavement, I noticed something
quite not right.

The youngsters bolted around in
an unnatural, inhuman fashion.
The males resembled golems.

As I play out each finding, time
and time again, the sole conclusion
I can spot:
They're chemical children and
mechanical men!
