Is
Have you ever closed your eyes for a while,
Only to open them, look around,
And realize how strange everything really is?
This world? This life? This game that we all play?
How utterly weird it is that we can see and hear and touch and feel?
Except that it's not just that we can see;
it's that we can become wrapped in the sheer beauty of sight,
And not that we can hear, but that we can be moved,
be shaken to the core by the passage of sound.
It's not that we can touch others but that we can make others feel.
And how do we spend our time?
Tumbling around in the unimaginably complex
pool of cause and effect, climbing here, falling there,
The whole time slowly figuring out how exactly this thing works.
We go to school, make friends, make enemies, forgive, fail, triumph, grow, learn, find ourselves, find each other, get old, die, mourn, forget.
We ride the highest highs and endure the lowest lows,
All without every truly knowing how or why anything is at all.

Take some time
to read some rhymes,
listen to the chimes,
do something kind,
maybe write between the lines.
I think you'll find
you're more inclined
to enjoy your mind
than you thought.

Things change, and rearrange,
Eventually, they'll become strange,
But here's a clue,
What you do is up to you,
you decide how you feel inside,
you're only here for the ride,
so open your eyes wide,
and watch the tide.
