"Of Fire and Gold"
Behemoths against a sky draped in flame
Silent mountain peaks caressing clouds of ash
Embers dance in the wind; smoldering messengers
Only the creak of seared bark shall grace this twilight
The forest is burning, such a sight to behold
This forest now king, of fire and gold

After all damage is done
Skeletal trees remain, like decrepit hands
Reaching to curse the sun
Soot is now the only floor
Barren and silent, like sentinels of mother nature
They stand; shamed and leafless
Still they whisper wise words with dying breaths
This is a legend to be told
The forest once king, of fire and gold

Litany of Despair
True darkness materializes
On the precipice of the mourning tower
Wails of agony ring throughout chambers of antiquity
Where the souls linger in misery
A discordant choir rises up amidst the still air
And here death becomes an entity

Endless torrent of pain, death, and doom
Mindless shells of men march with hearts of gloom
Skies of grey rain tears of blood
Hope had its throat slit, face down in mud
Pointless existence
Subject to extreme animosity

Endless voids pool on the ground
******* everything down into the abyss
Fingernails splinter and break as I try to claw my way out
Nailed down in a casket, mouth sewn shut
Screaming internally
Misery smashes through me
Like a hammer through a child

I will lose everything here
At the hands of this curse
And I'm not sure I care to carry on
A broken man, once driven
Now devoid of any and all reason
To keep living
There's a deafning silence in this place
One which creeps like death as frost permeates the landscape
Freezing nothern gales redifine my knowledge of pain
As roots are assaulted with upheaval, the forest whispers my name
The wailing stars up above, and sleeping stones below
In this land of agony ruled by tyrants of snow

Sorrow unending, crests with the moon
A revelry of grief, a portent of doom
The howls of wolves cut through the air like a knives
Grim reminders of our past and better lives
Only a war-torn remainder, plagued with a bloodsoaked mirth
Testament to when heathens ruled the earth

Ravens circle overhead in the blood red sky
Awaiting spiritual carrion as our souls slowly die
There is no golden radiance here
The sun finds no place, only hides in fear
Amongst the pillars we are relinquished
Before a pantheon of oak and birch
Where on thrones of fire, gods perch
Lightening strikes not once, but twice
Honoring us in our glorious fight

To the realm of spirits we ride
One by one swelling with pride
To see our ancestors again
We never in life, feared the end
The constellations call us home
And so we depart, leaving only our bones
Among the sleeping stones and blackened oak

Open Arms
The walls of your church should not divide
Your "God" gave us free will, for that, his son died
You treat her as though your messiahs words meant nothing
She is no plague, but your precious daughter
Treat her not, as a lamb to slaughter

Since when did faith become a requirement?
Don’t you preach love like a broken record?
Why cast her in the dark like you don’t care?
There may be many shadows, but I’m still there
You know not what you do
With every word against her, you’re only distancing the gap
Until it becomes a chasm, and then you won’t get her back

This is exactly why I choose to deny
No family should bring these tears to their daughters’ eyes
You know, I never thought that God existed
But if He did, I hope he’d be ashamed of you
Family is supposed to stick together
You need to get your priorities straight
Keep her close, scold her not, please don’t give her a reason to hate

And gorgeous, listen to me, you are not alone
You’re always welcome, you can call this place home
My arms are always open, like theirs claim to be
They’re upsetting you, now it’s effecting me.

Frost
I awaken in a frozen forest
The frost grips my lungs with icy claws
My face is numb and yet I can feel it burn
Snow covers my skin like a gown
As I sift through the permeating fog
A chilling veil of foreboding demise

The oak and ash trees stand like pillars
A silent kingdom encased underneath aeons of time
I turn my eyes to the sky; greeted by the deepest grey
The snow falls gently to the ground
Covering all these graves and where they lay
Stumbling forth through the brush
The wind howls among the boughs

And there stood the palace
A structure made from the strongest oak
Engraved with the runes of the gods
The doors appear as mirrors but ripple with touch
From within the fire burns bright
Lingering ash fills my senses; attracted to the warmth
Passed the thresh-hold I move
And everything disappears

A lady in white stands before me now
Veiled with what could only be death itself
And from her lips mists the very essence of despair
These are her haunted woods
All around, are reflective crimson pools
Steaming against the bite of the wind
Pools of death, pools of men who came before me

She constructs me a tower to the heavens
And instructs me to stay forever
I will do so, without hesitation
Compelled by the raging fire in her eyes
So, from my frozen tower I watch
The embers paint the blackened skies
An eerie shade of amber, permeated with smoke
The forest is burning

The fire in her eyes was released
From on high, I watch her **** herself
Burning alive, a victim of her own passion
I clutch my chest and find a hole
Dry and empty, just a grotesque cavity
She stole my heart in my sleep
And it lit the fire that destroyed this beautiful place
Now a sanctuary of death
In my tower I'll sit forever
Writhing in endless pain
I killed her with my heart
I killed the lady veiled with ice
I killed the only good to come from my conscious mind

The River
Embrace the river
Let it wash away your pain
Watch the water quiver
It's all the same
The liquid burns yet soothes
As your feet touch the bottom, it appears smooth
Just like glass, oh the very glass that breaks with silence
The relief comes to you in painted skies
If it can penetrate your glazed over eyes

Turn your eyes within
Tell me what you see...
Can you?
Can you even begin?
Work your way through the thorns
Find the beast and grab it by the horns
Inner peace is only skin deep
So go now, to the river; of yourself
Make your soul shiver
Baby, this is only skin deep

You may be covered in scars
But they tell a story
Self portrait on the flesh
Telling us of passion and loss of glory
But the light is searching, forever searching
For any hope you have left
Embrace the mirror, look at yourself
You are Invincible at best

Water always flows, never stable
It comes and goes
Such as the turmoil within
Escalated by the touch of anothers skin
Souls mesh and become one
Even if they are gone, the bond is never undone
Paint all of this, so one day, your legacy we be remembered
And when you feel the cold, it is your own December

Turn your eyes within
Tell me what you see...
Can you?
Can you even begin?
Work your way through the thorns
Find the beast and grab it by the horns
Inner peace is only skin deep
So go now, to the river; of yourself
Make your soul shiver
Baby, this is only skin deep

The stars fall from the skies
Leaving only their lines behind
Maybe it's a map, a map to heaven
Or perhaps a blueprint for Armageddon
We'll never know
Go to you internal river, your place of zen
Find your inner peace, and then begin

We will never know...
What is the meaning of life?
All I know, is I haven't won...
Until I can take my own advice

Inner peace is only skin deep
The stars fall from the skies
Leaving only their lines behind
Maybe it's a map, a map to heaven
Or perhaps a blueprint for Armageddon
We will never know...
Go to you internal river, your place of zen
Find your inner peace, and then begin
We watch our dreams, hanging from a tree
Noose around the necks, but just out of reach
The venom from the roots will make us taller
Are we getting bigger, or is the world getting smaller?
This is a paradox
These hallucinations guide our way
And if walls could talk, what the hell would they say?

This ink on these pages are full of lies
We could learn to read it if we'd open our eyes
But the ashes of the past tend to cloud reason
So we shift and change just like the seasons
Trying and trying; the noise in our head
It just won't keep quiet, it just wont stay dead
So shut your eyes tightly and try not to scream
In due time we will learn what these symbols mean

The days become hazey, fading in and out
As you drift with the colors, breathe in through your mouth
Taste every emotion, the depressing shade of blue
You hate this notion, but now you know it's true
The world around us is shrinking
And society's left thinking
How to break through the static and become less automatic

Why does the sky change so much?
Something with so much control, we can't even touch
If only our souls operated the same
To be able to control all emotion and pain
At the drop of a hat
We become entangled in the tentacles of despair, and leave it at that
Like those dreams hanging there
We find ourselves to be the ones swaying in the air
With our thoughts skewed like water colors over canvas
We wonder if we really can handle this

Underneath the surface, we fragment
With every ounce of our hope spent
No one will see this
We hold it in
Until we burst at the seams
Becoming just as useless as our broken dreams
The moon weeps for us so often
As it's tears fall into the ocean
Hoping the ripples will calm us down
And that we still have the willpower not to drown

This ink on these pages are full of lies
We could learn to read it if we'd open our eyes
But the ashes of the past tend to cloud reason
So we shift and change just like the seasons
