The tears that fell on that day
Mountain of ash
Sky of smoke
Grey

The ones who were lost
The ones who lost them
Even the stars cry
Black

Hatred
Hurt
Sadness
Fear
Confusion
A world of emotion

But every action has an equal and
Opposite reaction

Hatred turned to empathy
Sadness turned to hope
Through fear many showed courage
Bravery
Confusion became acceptance

And though the deepness of hurt
Could never be lightened
Defiance
Refusal to give victory emerged
Through the ashes

What was meant to tear us apart
Worked...at first
Until it bound is together tighter than before

Always remember
Courage
Sacrifice
Love
Kindness
That is what this day is about.

A lost soul wandering in the wilderness
For a thousand years
Searching, searching
But if you were to ask,
"what are you looking for?"
They would reply with one of two things
If you were a stranger they might say
"Something lost."
But if you were a friend
One they decided to let into their
High-walled fortress they have built
Only for their protection
They might reply
"I don't know how it looks or feels or tastes, but I do know when I find it I will know it is what I have always wished for."

I don't know what to say to you
Because when I stand by you a few inches away
A million and one words come to my mind
They choke me

I try to speak but no sound comes
And so I stand here
Wanting To say a million things
But instead remaining in silence
So instead of saying a million things
Ill just hug you

Ill wrap my arms around your neck
In hopes that through this action
All the things I've wanted to say
Will be exhaled into the air

And you will knowingly wrap your arms
Around my waist and pull me in closer
Letting my chin rest on your shoulder
All my heaviness will fade
And everything will be okay
Through  your embrace

There is a monster living in my mirror
Be careful
Look away
You are not allowed to see

I approach it carefully
But I have to see
To make sure it's still there
Not coming after me

I have to remember its face
Just in case
I should see it elsewhere

I glance in my mirror
And it begins to scream
And scream
Awful things at me

I look away plug my ears
Trying not to hear
But it's got into my mind
Not just my ears
Or my mirror

There is something peaceful about being alone
Allowed to sit with nothing but your own thoughts
Doing nothing only taking a moment to relax
Close your eyes take a deep breath
Let your mind wander to infinity
Relive good memories
Bit your lip as the bad make their reappearance
Contemplate the reason for making particular decisions
Imagine
Do not be bothered by anyone else making noise
Blah blah blah
Going on and on and on
About things you have no interest in
And go off to be alone
And find peace in the nothingness
That's all your own

Brown eyes
Everyone says they're dull
But yours shine so bright

Braces
Everyone is dying to get them off
But your smile lights up the room anyway

You don't know
But my friend
You are so beautiful

Kind
An oh so caring
Always polite
Your daddy raised you right

You are no stranger to pain
An with that power
You bring us happiness

You are so loved
And if you were to forget this
It would be a crime

Never ever forget
How special you are
To all of us

And when you feel like nothing
Remember god isn't finished with you
And neither are we.
I wrote this poem to my best friend Teri because she loves my poems. When I read it to her she almost cried.

The colorless sunrise begins
Dawn
Your eyes blink open, tired
But they know its time to awaken

The sun is hightest in the sky
Noontime
Everyone is rushing, bustling
Too busy to be bothered

The sky is mild orange and pale pink
Sunset
Soft breeze blowing, calming
But no one stops to see its beauty

Black sky sprinkled with lights and the white moon.
Midnight
Hush falls over the city lights, silence
But all are at rest no one awake to see.
