I look everywhere around me
Has anything really changed
New faces on old acquaintances
Same personalities, different names

I hear everything is cyclical
Nothing new under the sun
The battles are often fought
But has anyone really won?

Warmongering Americans
Fighting to save our lives
Innocent foreign countries
Dying children destroyed lives

Remove yourself from all of it
You no longer exist
View it from outside the box
To make sense of all of this

Countless lives are lost
Like a chess game never ceasing
The ones in charge calling the shots
Think any result is pleasing

The loss of a battle is also called
Population control
The winner finds stock and profit
In another land's soil

Who is really losing here
The answer is the world
Corruption hate destruction
In all humanity has unfurled

Put aside all differences
But respect all people alike
You don't have to hate the soldiers
To be tired of the fight

Where to run
Where to hide
Emotions blowing
Up inside

Should I stay
Or should I go
Should I rise
Or stay below

I'm not certain
of my future
I'm tired of living
in my past

Am I trying
Way too hard
Or am I moving
Way too fast

I am constantly
Perplexed
What's the choice
I should make next

Which higher power
Should I ask
Which one is
My most important task

Typical youth
Indecision
Cutting through life
With no precision

What is my purpose
What is my mission

Stone expression in a sea of emotion
Laugh maniacally when I get the notion
Show no fear, love, or hate
People only criticize
They never appreciate

Why are you emotionless
What are you thinking
You must be doped up or
You must have been drinking

They don't think there are storms in my head
Many many phrases that are better left unsaid

But that is my purpose
My reason for the mask
You tell me all I need to know
By the questions that you ask

I choose my burdens and carry them solely
I don't bother you because I care for you wholly

I don't need an extra shoulder
God gave me two
I cannot guarantee I'll always
Have you

So I bear my burdens and keep them locked away
A self-made unknown martyr
Already In an unmarked grave

Everyone so quick to judge
Interjecting their thoughts to make themselves known
Negativity reincarnated
Seeds of discord steadily sewn

Why not keep your opinion in
You want your 15 minutes of fame?
Why not support your brothers and sisters
Instead of attacking them with shame

If you've got nothing nice to say
Keep it all inside
Just let them live in blissful ignorance
Quit trying to present your side.

Seeing is believing
But tell that to the blind man
Crawling through Jerusalem
Only guided by his own hand

He heard an unfamiliar voice
But a voice he recognized
He begged and pleaded to the master
And regained his eyes

Is seeing really believing?
No sir, I think not.
Believing gives you sight
A gift you almost forgot.
