Every single morning;
Every single morning regardless of Weather,
Regardless of the crowd,
He is here.
He is here sitting at the exact same Table,
Being served by the exact same waiter,
Ordering the exact same meal.
#4 Breakfast Platter,
Grits instead of Oatmeal,
With a slice of the cobbler of the day.
He eats in peace then remains there, Just existing.
Though he is no ordinary old timer,
No this is not the Average Grandpa Joe.
This man here- No no this Hero!
Is the epitome of everything I WISH to Be someday.
For he was once one of the deadliest Persons on Earth.
You'd think such a title would be Confidential..
But he, and most men like him proudly Put it on display.
Right there on his baseball cap, Embroidered on the sides it reads it Clear as day:
UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS
KOREAN WAR
P.O.W.
I couldn't begin to imagine the stories He could tell of his service.
What He himself has seen,
What He himself has done.
Things I'm sure no human being Should have to ever witness.
But he has,
No doubt about it he has.
And I'd be willing to bet he has yet to complain about having to do so;
Why not you might ask?
Because he's not just some lonely old Man.
He's some lonely old man,
Who was once a United States Marine.
