Teaching oneself
is much harder
than teaching others:
there will be excuses
for not being diligent
can't get used to change
anxious, exiting my shell
god, I fear the world

To be as capricious as I
And not drive people away
Is a delicate act.

My brain’s a vending machine
with the snacks all stuck—
ideas jammed,
buttons broken,
and no one’s got the right coin.
forgive and forget
sometimes not easy to do
I'm not built like god.
I've wondered for years
if this life is testing us
for a life to come.
shadows neath the door
concerned voices of old friends
try to talk me down
where were they when thoughts turned dark
when this life slipped through my hands.
alone in the dark
rock and roll on playing loud
cigarette glowin
steady sound of the rhythm
beats my heart and takes me back.
