Armor
Danielle Whitley May 2017
Fitted for this golden armor
Weightless to the soul
Only favored protection
The conscious must build it's own
Without a certain purpose
It's made to be quite fierce
But a small promise
The rest remains vulnerable

This I Know
Danielle Whitley May 2017
Grinding teeth
hold back
The air

said,

"I will give you what you seek"

Giving to ungrateful
demanding
building security

On faulted insecurities
Disrupting the context

For certain, remains
....may forever be

Unknown

Don't Look Back
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
Greedy sounds inside of silence
there is no just
Outlined in the cracking trails
trampled as the filtered weeds
Inviting scenery bringing promise
Breaking once you leave

The Temple
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
A forsaken temple, built upon a foundation
Measured by strength and weakness
Before the unforeseen
a dark demeanor
A sole purpose, without control
The entrance, once was grand,
Is nothing but rubble
The color painted walls that brought light, are peeled and lay in ruins.
The peaceful silence of comfort is a lonely nightmare of final company
The heart of itself is no longer hopeful,  left without a soul

Pleasantries of the Past
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
Foundation built with armor
Architectural finesse
Becomes the understanding
Expecting nothing less

Caught within the glory
Weakness is foreseen
Sinking in normality
Strengthened part of me

Slowly beating on the walls
All I have known is wrong
Beginning with a simple dream
Could make a defense strong

By Choice
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
Maybe it wasn't enough
Or maybe too much
Lost in this heaping pile of nothingness
grasping for the hand that fits so well
Go on, they say. All is well
From my perspective, I cannot tell
Begging for you is useless
Yet I do it anyway.

Disappointment
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
The lack of your humanity
Is but a suffocating nuisance
Placed upon the ones who don't belong inside the triangle of your behavior
Stepping outside of the limits is a typical day of choices among the saddened life style you so carelessly enjoy
When everything comes crashing down onto the world of your normalcy
There will be nothing and no one to watch
Fall into an invisible net that you seem to think exists
Maybe those will feel sorry for you
However I am not among the few

Reaching
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
Aside from your perfection
Lays the depth perception
Of the simple question,
will it ever be enough?
When you hear my crying
You pretend I'm lying
Can you fabricate the dying,
begging from the rough?
Although it seems you are okay
Of the life deemed yesterday
So as I simply asked before,
No, it will never be enough

Suffocating
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
Breathless
Infectious, smile
Into the reckless
Begging on hands
Knees that I stand
Demand
Slowly breaking
Helpless, forsaken
Only yours,
for the taking
Simply let it be

Broken Dream
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
Instigating stages
Memory of faces
Crowding senses
Worn out defences
Silence lasting
Wave lines crashing
Hopelessly begging
Never ending
In this broken dream

All consuming
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
Love will slowly creep upon you
Without a determined goal in mind
It will suffocate your every thought
Drowning in emotion with time

No Turning Back
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
An object
but once a subject
Some sort of seeker
Holding dear
The keeper
In the clear
Left in fear
Only headed deeper

I Did What I Had To
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
Other than today
With nothing to say
Maybe I'll remember
Specifics put away
I'll be upon the lesson
Skip over depression,
             aggression,
            obsession
.. if I may.

Regaining composure
Finding the closure
All for the better
... someday

Murder
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
I heard the gun shot, so I started to run
But soon I forgot, where I had begun
I reached for my savior, all that I've known
Saw I was followed and the shadows had grown
Despair, the creator, of all that I see
Confusion has captured, what's left to be
Remnants are nothing but an impossible dream
Havoc is present, with no in between
I turned back in habit, to see what I'd done
I quickly remembered why I started to run

Epiphany
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
When the box is enclosing
Shadowed corners commence
There is no one to help you
Left feeling a fool

Begging for resistance
Even mercy at best
If that was existent
Head and heart wouldn't duel

Alone to understanding
Sorting through what is known
Expected is forgiven
What comes next will be shown

Art and Crafts
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
Hurry, find tape needle and thread
Hot glue, any glue and a sharpie that's red
Grab gloves for your safety as you are to mend
Be quick, time is precious not sure when it ends
Precision is needed right from the start
Piece by piece, please mend my heart

Make Me Feel
Danielle Whitley Jun 2015
Begging for skin to skin with grace
Delicate wisps of the air
Heat creates upon bonding
Leave nothing behind to spare
Grasping tight to thoughtless desire
Without forgiveness I bleed
Laid out before you bare and true
Waiting for you to feed

— The End —
