I Am
Danielle Tuffley Dec 2016
I am clay.
I have already been put in a kiln and fired.
I am no longer soft.
you cannot mold me into something I'm not,
But you can take me and paint me.
Put me on display.
Show me off.
dress me up and fill me with love,
but whatever you do
don't drop me,
because
I am clay.
I will break
and if I break,
Pieces will be missing
Some will be cracked
some might be rough around the edges and
The paint might chip away.
I am clay

This Feeling
Danielle Tuffley Dec 2016
Picture this.
It’s 10pm
It’s dark
I’m at a theme park
Cedar Point
It’s the Halloween weekend
There are “monsters” everywhere
And shows with acrobats
And people juggling fire
And banging on drums
All the rides are lit up
Kennedy.
Kennedy, my girlfriend
Is here
Right in front of me
My eyes are gazing into hers
While she’s gazing into mine
In this moment
Everything is
Beautiful
And clear
So clear
I feel invincible
With her
Like nothing can
Touch me

Eyes
Danielle Tuffley Dec 2016
Your eyes gaze
Deep inside me.
I look away,
but only because I am afraid
Of what they might find.

You Are
Danielle Tuffley Dec 2016
You are the moon and the stars
On the darkest night,
The rainbow
after a thunderstorm,
The vibrant sunset
On the coldest day
The song I sing
And the words I write

— The End —
