I Am Defeated
Daniel Barlow Jun 2010
Lift me from this,
My self induced purgatory,
Give me new scenery,
And new lease for life,
Please, present me with new sights,
For as of now my eyes do tire,
Of fateful moments passed.
All compassion has elapsed,
And my core grows anxious,
Of what the future has intended,
I cannot persist with being,
Or laying potential plans,
When all is hollow,
And shall shortly be ended.

Parfait is most fitting,
Beautiful brown eyes glisten,
One perfect frozen night,
Indescribable powers upon you,
Magical chemistry shines through,
Forever in awe of your elegance,
So close to completion,
To be left only remnants,
Only memories,
Of smiles lay upon your face,
Love forever,
An eternal lasting trace,
You, I will never forget,
And us, I shall never regret,
Infallibility will never rest.

Us

Us
Soon great distance,
Will delay us so, and so,
No thoughts or visions,
Can invade reality yet,
Trustworthy you are not,
And you conclude the same,
I’d bet, yet this I promise,
To save you the premise,
Better things are coming,
An end to your bitter living,
Untwisted, no longer tangled,
Protect and reassemble,
Your broken self I’ll handle,
From now through then,
Live however needed,
Commit treasons,
Cast a seed,
Wherever pleasing,
It all leads to a freedom,
Everything happens for a reason.

From Birmingham To Bristol
Daniel Barlow Jun 2010
With another pointless crusade I stumble forwards,
Struggling for purpose or meaningful hurdles,
When the ending hour belies me,
I speak no grief and restore chi,
Living moments and memories devoid of reason,
Committing a million acts of hedonist treason,
Crave the new, despise what has already been,
I am wasted,
With no hint of experiences unseen,
No pursuit of self improvement,
Happiness must coincide with movement...

All contemplations circle our connection,
Even the simplest conversation is testing,
Utterly speechless, at any given moment,
Perfection so brief, then silence,
Has left me broken.
For another muse I scramble,
Every minute I cannot handle,
The beauty of blossoming,
The agony of not knowing.
How you must be so blind,
To the way your grace defines me,
And to how I have fallen,
Completely.

C'est cassé
Daniel Barlow Jun 2010
I wasted so much,
Reviving a wilted flower,
I lost myself,
My confidence,
Now, I possess no power.
Beauty has succumbed,
To a thousand tortured hours,
My zest for life is numbed,
As my heart,
It cowers.

This solitude
Takes me nowhere,
An emptiness,
That leaves me bare.
Lost and lonely,
My devils gorge
Upon one another,
Strip my smile,
Force me under covers.

I am both slave
And master,
Eternally within myself,
I sit calm,
Watch as I rot,
Shed a lonesome tear
For my health,
For what I've felt,
For every desire
That is not.

I pause for thought,
What an insignificant war,
To have fought.
