They’re in our world,
Making us all angered,
with all their words,
putting us in danger,
we don’t want it,
we don’t need it,
but are we brave enough to fight.
We modify ourselves
To be perfect
we start around age twelve,
with these secrets.
how we, cut our hair real short
to fit in.
yeah, build up that fort
don’t let nobody in
We see retouched photos plastered among us,
We choose to strive to be like these people.
It’s always been said “be yourself and nobody else”,
But it’s so hard to come back up from this steep hill.
Where we’ve fallen into this numbing society,
Where being overweight is not going to cut it.
When these people have self hatred and anxiety,
They’d almost do anything to emit,
This perfect image.
The truth is the word perfect is false,
There is no such thing as perfect.
Everybody has their flaws,
That’s because everybody is different.
We are beautiful inside and out,
But yet so blind that we can’t even see this.
There shouldn’t be a doubt,
Because we already know this.
This false image of perfect is being installed,
Into our brains and into our lifestyle.
We are willing to scald,
Our own flesh doing up our hair just to make others smile.
We use makeup to hide our imperfections,
To make us look like everybody else.
To create our false complections,
And be physically pleasing alongside anyone else.
We develop eating disorders,
To have the perfect body.
We’ve hit these borders,
Where all that’s left is to disembody,
Everything left of the real you,
For somebody that you may never be.
