Smell of rainwater on a
Warm street.
Smoke rising from
Around our feet; small fires
Between dimensions
That hold pain
And relief
Simultaneously.

There should be
(Oh my God,)
An orchestra playing
(I'm actually)
Heartbreaking music
(Losing her.)
Like in a movie,

Not just her and
Me raining away
From each other
In this ****
Silence,

Where I'd rather be
Any one of the
Other people in this
Street
That have umbrellas
Over their hearts and heads,
And are free from
Ice and fractures
On the
Inside.

Lips as red as
     A rose,
In the height of
Summer's heat.

Heart as dead as
     The leaves,
In the waning of
Autumn's fall.

Skin as cold as
      The snow,
In the quiet of
Winter's night.

Mind as fragile as
       Seedlings,
In the dawn of
Spring's rebirth.

Forgotten Heart
you
I see you
in everything
I look at
I feel you
in every moment
I live. .....

Forgotten Heart
I couldn't compare
your smile
to any other
Cute things
in my life.....
I couldn't differentiate
your sparkling eyes
From the stars
I adore
every night.....

Forgotten Heart
my heart
always belongs to you
take care of it
for it is still damaged
and need some
extra care(your love)...
take care of you too.....

What a cheerful world
Mine has become
Since I started forcing myself

To smile when my alarm
Goes off

Every
Single
Morning

It takes less
And less
Force

Forgotten Heart
may be i don't care about you
may be i don't like you
may be i don't love you
all these were
my wrong assumptions
you are mine
i am afraid
may be this is also one of
those predictions......

Whisky, whisky.
My worst
Best friend.
You have embarassed us
Again.

Whisky, whisky.
One kiss leads to
Another.
Angry lover.
A terrible mother.

Warm. Sweet.
All a woman should be.
Smiling
With perfect
White fangs.
Whisky,

Whisky.
If we keep biting
And clawing at her
Heart, it's your
Fault
If I end up as single
As your malt.

Sound me out with the hammer.
Hollowness may be in these bones
That gives structure to frame and flesh.

Sound me out with a tuning fork.
High notes sharp major or minor
Vibrate the strings of my nerves.

Sound me out with crashing cymbals.
Shattering the dreams built on sands
Rebuild the house of my hope and faith.

Sound me out in this silence.
Tune me to the orchestra of the universe
With stars moon sun and galaxies for an audience.
This poem was written in 1974 and was first published in my first book( now out of print) SOUND ME OUT, in that year.

I woke up 35 today.
Thought it wouldn't feel
Any different from 34, but
This time...

I'll buy an extra few flowers
For my mother.
It's her day too.

I'll buy my dad a cigar and a
Cold one.
For all the gray hairs.

I'll thank my brother for
Being
Just that
For 33 years,

And my girlfriend for not
Minding what we
Both think
Might be the earliest whiffs
Of an 'old-man-smell'
On me.

It's the first rainy day in weeks.
I'll have a
Few beers too many tonight,
And just stand in the downpour.
I'm an adult now; I don't
Have to wear a raincoat.

It's my party and I'll
Laugh hysterically

If I want to.
