A valley of lights

twinkling orange and white

brighten the night

with their silent song

Skyscrapers loom high

almost to puncture the sky

and a stranger might

cry for all it's beauty

But only one star

can shine through from afar

and leaves only one scar

in the brown night's purity

When you come into view

my heart beats anew

with all the love I have for you

my favorite city

Slowly you fade away

    into the clouds

    into the haze

The lights are gone,

    but I still feel warm

The scenes are gone,

but I still feel like I'm there

The people are gone,

but they left a permanent mark

ONE** pointed starfish

clinging for life

waiting for high tide

TWO small children

string along side

the gentles waves

THREE ocean ferries

hopeless tourist traps

whale watching- no avail

FOUR sneaky seagulls

begging for food

stealing your lunch

FIVE murky footprints

imprinted in the sand.

Attached to them? Memories.

Seattle is like a harp,

    many strings

         many lengths

              many sounds

Each unique to themselves

      but when played together

           create perfect harmony

Racing through grey waves

Vagabond of the sea

Oil tanker
laden with grime
bobbing in the waves

Blamed for polluting
obscenely obtuse
no one cares to save

Don't hate yourself
for I see a shimmer
of something once beautiful

A "fixer-upper"
yes, you are
but who ever said in vain?

for isn't the story of Seattle
to re-make something old,
giving it life again?

Small squares dot the hildside

Tiny ants scurry about

Moving rectangles cruise on along

A few building blocks stand tall

This is the view

timeless,

peaceful,

ever stirring.

              Yell!

                        CRASH!

Fish!

           Flowers!

                       Final Hour!

STOP!

           Pay!

                     Ca-CHING!

Pike

        Place

                    Market

                                 Is

                                      Everything!

Constant beeping

Stifles many's sleeping

Get up! Time to go!

Don't be late for work!

Even arriving a minute tardy,

Makes the boss berserk.

Suit, check

Briefcase, yes

Clamor on to the bus

Cup of Joe, got it

Manila folder, find it!

Gee, the boss'll make a fuss

When you think you're in the clear,

Uh oh... rush hour is here!

Stuck behind a geezer, ******!

Acceleration pedal, jam it!

8:01...

Oh hell, you're done.

Like a lone wolf

I wander

Like an ancient thinker

I ponder

Great city lights,

lead me

In my pelerious flight

intercede for me

Like there's no time in the world

I leisure

Like a mourning window

I need closer

Great city lights,

I be stumped

Maybe that's why

I lost and jumped

High above

         Over looming skylines

Feeling like a titan

         In real time

For once

         Conquering over streets below

Watching everything

         Come and then go

On once hand

         Your view is limitless

On the other

        You're rendered powerless

Seeing how much

        Activity is around

The many, many

        Sights, smells, textures, sounds

The only thing

        Reigning above you

Airplanes on strait paths

        To make their due

An urban titan

        So limitless

Distant from the city

       So powerless

The first light

Gleaming with shinning power

Unlike the dawn

In the midst of witching hour

There's more!

Lighting up like a fiery display

A tasteful

masterpiece they portray

Such a momentous thing,

How can it suffice?

Truely

this much be paradise

Driving through the

dark and dreary

night

Fleeing about the

looming clouds in

flight

Glancing down on

the flickering lights

below

Not about to

question all the

hopes

   dreams

       harships

of the bearers

the light does

lift

Such a lonely

exsistence a highway

lives
