Untitled
Colin Tuckett Sep 2014
The world is a stage
Upon which we are permitted
A temporary performance.

Learn life’s lines well
For when we exit stage left
Only the author
Can command an encore.
I need advice for a suitable title? Or do I just leave it as is.
Your contributions will be welcome.

Constancy
Colin Tuckett Nov 2011
Love is not love that alters
When alteration finds.

Many gold bands are lost
To a readjusted mind

Pure gold will never tarnish
Tho' scored and bent may be.

True love is refined by our constancy.

Shy
Colin Tuckett Nov 2011
Shy
I could have kissed you
As we sat in evening sun.
But why so shy.

I could have kissed you
As we lay in summers field.
Would you have flown away.

I could have kissed you
As tears of hurt you shed.
Would it mend my aching heart.

I kissed you.
One delightful day in May.
Oh why did I delay.
Memories of courting my wife.

Woodpecker.
Colin Tuckett Sep 2010
Rhythmic tympani of woodland symphony,
His search for lunch in Quercus branch
Ads music to a forest glade.
Dawn's chorus would the poorer be
Without his insistent cacophony

Young Love
Colin Tuckett Sep 2010
So this is love, oh had I but known.
Your beauty leaves a heart enslaved,
Were I a king-for you, what of throne?
My abdication subjects would forgive.

A world without you would be grey
A canvass without its colour.
A divine artist though passed this way.
Oh please- never meet my brother!

My heart no longer dwells within
I wear it on my sleeve.
The end of me would be your sin
Should you ever leave.

But wait. What beauty does approach?
Oh fickle heart of mine.
Now shall I incur reproach.
Er-What was your name again?

Growing up
Colin Tuckett Sep 2010
Mock not my indiscretions.
Much can come from errored choice.
lessons oft come by misdirection,
So give me not the taunting voice.

Ask me when I am older
If my dreams have proven true.
Perhaps by then shall I be bolder,
Humbled e'en, maybe grateful too.

Should I never reach that status
Hold me not with disrespect.
Ask instead how life would shape us
Were we all so circumspect.

Do love me please for what I am.
Hold me dear for all I give you.
I really do the best I can,
Judge me not on what I should do.

SUNRISE
Colin Tuckett Aug 2010
Sunrise, Sunset.
Another Day.

New birth, Old death.
Another Life.

Music composed, Music heard.
Another Joy.

Soil tilled, Seed planted.
Another Miracle.

Wheat grown, Crop reaped.
Another Season.

Bird song. Silent wood
Another  Tragedy.

Death in the surf. Plastic bag.
Another Pollution.

What's the solution?
God Knows
