night and day
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
Throwing pebbles across an illuminated lagoon
and gazing up at a lunar wonder,
caressing every star admiring them from afar;
Gathering the delicate beams of light
into a glass jar.

The golden sun is rising soon
and awakening us with wisps of fresh air
brushing against our dry, tingling lips.

An opening of young eyes,
blinded by rays of sunshine;
Warmth nestled into every crevice of their hearts
taught them not to mind.
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
Troubled with the shortness of time
with a wish that clocks could rewind.
Tick tock,
Tick tock,
have you got enough time?

Did you watch the sun rise and set?
Have you seen vast valleys of wildflowers,
and the highest, most majestic mountain ranges?
Have you loved another soul, cared for another's heart?
Most importantly, have you learned to love yourself?

Questions left up in the air, but it's okay.
Just promise me one thing darling,
don't waste your life away.
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
I've drifted into deep slumber
a thousand and more times.
Still, nothing defeats the dream state
I possess admiring your eyes.
I've tasted heaven on your
lips glazed with sweet honey dreams.

If someday I am shaken by a nightmare,
without you
Slip me an antidote beneficial to
a fathomless, dreamless sleep.

The barrier between barely touching lips
pulsates with desire and adoration.
You could say the tides crave
the shore, much like I crave you.

old news

As worthless as old newspapers thrown out.
You feel like one of many torn pages
floating through town.

I love
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
I love to spontaneously grab your hand
and whisper I love you's in your ear;
Graze your soul, cradle your heart
kiss your lips and **** the fears.

light
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
You hoped for rays of light
in your darkest times,
catching fire flies in attempts
to make you feel alive.
The heats on, but it's not so bright.
A candle lit by the bed,
to help you sleep at night.

If you disappear
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
If you disappear, memories could fade
like trails of fingerprints.
My bones might feel the aches
of missing you in waves.

cosmic trip
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
I aspire to dive into the cosmos
and lounge around on Saturn's rings;
float among a cluster of newborn stars
and drink the starlight.

Maybe I'll stumble upon a black hole
and slowly dip into the unknown,
will I see you there?
You've been gone for so long.

Why did you assume I had no desire
to become nothing
with you?

defining sorrow
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
Exhaustion tugging at the soul
like damp attire hung on a thin clothing line.
Blood red eyes carrying the weight of
crashing tides.

You've dug yourself deeper than the roots
of the most ancient trees,
and dressed yourself in anchors,
dragging you down into the depths of the sea.
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
I emptied my heart
and filled it with
sea waves
and
glistening stars.

Crescent moon
I'm thinking of you
and your pleasant tune.

The stars surround you
I miss you.

I'd swing from star to star
to get to you.

when our lips meet
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
You stole my breath away,
kissed me, and paused to exchange a gaze
then smiled sweetly in a daze.
flowers bloomed around your face;
your eyes reflected the pure
joy spread across my face.

fascination
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
Wandering through your mind
much like a traveler on newly found land.
Or like an astronaut roaring through
the atmosphere into the staggering cosmos.
I'm in a whirlpool of utter fascination
with you.

don't forget me
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
I hope it doesn't come down to
the washing of your sheets,
trying to forget the scent of me
and sweeping up lost strands
of my hair, so there's no reminder
I was ever there.

a trade
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
I kiss your lips
and almost feel the pain
you've felt times before.

I'd trade my heart with yours,
but it's not so sturdy anymore.

cancer
charlotte phifer Sep 2013
Locked lips,
flicked ashes,
and intertwining fingers.

inhale, exhale
the deadly fumes

It's black lungs
and lovely hearts
we have consumed.

dead star

I was searching for light,
when I saw you shining bright.
Only to discover your admirable glow
had burnt out years ago.
