When you ignore me.
Chante R Brunet Mar 2012
I'd rather shatter
and watch all the tiny pieces of me
fall to the ground
then have you ignore me.

In that fragmented moment in time
when I am completely dissolved,
at least I will be free.

Free from the infectious words
rolling off your tongue.
Those sweet lies, in which you
deceitfully soak in poison.

I believe everything you have ever spoken
only because I love you,
but when your smile fails to hide your cruel intentions,
that is when I wish my soul would liquefy.
If only I could say goodbye to your wicked lies
when you ignore me.

She's gone.
Chante R Brunet Mar 2012
He lost her
He cant sleep,
Instead he watches the sunrise.

He doesn't mind
seeing the bright, yellow, and orange flames
of the sun set fire to the sleepy horizon,
it only reminds him of the burning candles at her funeral.

Its been so long,
he can't remember the way the sheets contoured her body as she slept.
He only remembers the stiff, shapeless sheet, draped over her, in that cold room
right after he lost her.

He imagines the way she used to rise out of his bed every morning.
How her velvety, black hair swept across her  pillow.
He longs to see the moonlight beam into his bedroom window
to light up her white, satin nightgown like it did every night.

But he lost her.
Now its just him, thinking of her,
lost forever in the burning sunrise.

Fear.
Chante R Brunet Mar 2012
To never hear your soft voice
asking me not to leave.

To never feel your eager hands,
brush my cheek
as you pull me closer
to kiss.

To forget the shape of your eyes.
The smell of your skin.
The taste of coffee on your lips,
early in the morning.
The sound of us laughing, while the rest of the world sleeps.
Us, together, alone
silently listening to the rhythm of each others body.

To feel the emptiness I felt in my heart,
long before you entered it.
And when I think of fear,
I think of loosing you
and it simply tears me a part.

The Wind.
Chante R Brunet Mar 2012
Your embrace is gentle but powerful,
like how the wind ruffles the surface of a calm ocean.
That is how I know our love is real.

I feel it pulsate through my body,
rattling through my bones,
into my heart,
and into my soul.

Your love is the life to my heart,
like how the wind is life to a lost leaf on a lonely autumn day.
It blows freely, randomly uplifting it from the ground.

That is what you do
You make my soul shiver with delight
and when my heart takes flight with yours
It is you, and only you that keeps me alive.
Like the wind.

Emotional Eyes.
Chante R Brunet Mar 2012
Emotional eyes are what you say I have,
but how can I hide my love for you?

You say its hard for you,
hard to love me back,
the way I do
but how so?

Your eyes pull every emotion out of my entire existence,
like air forced out of my lungs;
so smooth and powerful
but essential to life.

I can't help but look back into those inviting eyes,
which lead deep into your erratic soul.
You keep me guessing.

But when you look through me,
through my broken eyes,
into my predictable soul.

You effortlessly reveal and heal
the pain that lies deep behind
my emotional eyes.
