What if I told you
I'm dieing on the inside?
That inside my mind I plan to
Break away and fly?
That a moment passes in a year
These broken hearts seem tried
But they're coming out for one last time
They're turning into tears

Well I can't speak your name
Aloud- it hurts
Remember you
Hurt me, too.
Long before I learned to
Forget the past.
I fashioned this poem off a song I wrote on the piano.  I hope everyone likes it!  Most of my poems are kind of like lyrics, so I guess when you read them try and sing them.  I think a few of mine sound better that way.

I am Dr. Jekyll, and I am Mr. Hyde.
I cannot look in to a mirror in fear of that my eyes;
Will give away the years I put in to my thin disguise.
Inside this face you see is the man I try to hide.
Beneath this broken smile is the man I hide behind.

Ever the dreamer
Never the sane
To whom created
Not mine to blame
You see the circle
I see the moon
You read the notes
I hear the tune
You think it unordered
I think it fun
You turn away
I face the sun
You seek the truth
I seek the dare
You seem to worry
But why even care?
You ask what’s the reason
I say, tis’ the season!
You grow where you stay
I leave where I came
Forever the dreamer
And never the sane.

I've tried putting my best foot forward
Counting the clouds though its absurd
But I'm tripping over my shoe lace
And the rain is falling on my face

Well your hockey *****!
But I like how you skateboard
Never had much luck
Carpe diem is what I'm aiming for
If you plan on killing the music
Promise me you'll let it rest in peace.

You're staring at me through the looking glass
I can't keep hiding my present in the past
But your oxygen's fogging the window
When you live in the future you learn to let go.

[Promise me you'll be waiting at my door
Giving the answers I'm looking for
I'm hopinh you won't slam the door in my face
These questions take air so lets cut to the chase.]

They say an Indian woman sits in  the moonlight
She picks up her quills, sewing into the night
Near her the fire blazes,
The flame burns so bright.
Her dog lays beside her
Its eyes watching tight.

And this Indian woman, rises, sets down her work
Like a ghost glides to the kettle, stirring her herbs.
Up goes the woman’s dog
Unraveling her quilt
She returns to the fire
The dog feels no guilt.

And on and on
For thousands of years
For as fast as the woman sews
The faster he tears
Woe to the world if the woman completed.
For when her work’s done the world ends in that instant.
Oh! to our dismay,
Or so the Sioux say.
To give a little background on this poem, I am part Sioux Indian princess.  I have a book of old Sioux Indian legends, and I read it the same way you might read "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark."  They are actually quite fascinating stories, and equally haunting.   This poem is based off of the legend "The End of The World."

Has your ear heard of the giants?
They live above all day.
Along the sky they travel
On Cloud to make their way.

Has your eye seen of their walking sticks?
They are so sturdy and so tall.
Pine are for the biggest ones.
The Birch are for the small.

Has your tongue tasted their wondrous drink?
You'll know when the grey clouds rain
When they loose a drip of wine,
A water drop we gain.

Have you feared when a Giant sleeps?
A race of the heart when it grows black
Along they lay; they rest together
Forever on their backs.

Have you sensed the Giants watch?
Their eyes are what you call a star.
They're always there, to keep you safe,
The giants know where you are.

To be the man in the moon,
Would be a terrible fate.
Always arriving when it’s always too late.
With the sun in the way, he’s just second rate.

The man in the moon,
What a terrible doom!
Imagine the sadness, the tears, and the gloom!
Not a petal to grow, to brighten or bloom.

O, the man in the moon
In the middle of space.
While we below try to make out his face.
His mind wanders off to a happier place.

See the man in the moon,
His heart beat and tanted.
No matter the risk, his life he would chance it
To bask in the light that we take for granted.

I've got an invitation to the Boston Tea Party
I'm letting you know in case you want to come with me
I heard from some friends that it's going down in history
Don't think about it twice
Just say yes

Whoa! Uh oh!
No taxation without representation
Whoa! Uh oh!
These patriot's they know how to show a good time.
Whoa! Uh oh!
What Georgie gonna think when he wakes up in the morning?
Pass me the quill, dear Hancock.

Thomas Jefferson, he has got a way with words
He really makes you believe that this dream's gonna work
(Maybe if you forget that these Brits rule the world)
I'll sign the declaration
It's all I have left to believe in

Whoa! Uh oh!
Paul Revere he says the British are coming!
Whoa! Uh oh!
Can't you hear, the belfry's bells are ringing
Whoa! Uh oh!
Pick up guns we're off to Lexington
Hoofbeats are flying out to the night.

Wait.
Here I stand.
At this Battle of Bunker Hill.
Stop.
Close your eyes.

What happend to our sanity?
Civility?
Humanity?

(It went out the door with our freedom.)

Whoa! Uh oh!
We don't need a King we have our own voices
Whoa! Uh oh!
Life and Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness
Whoa! Uh oh!
Save the date, July 4th 1776
US of A, it's independence.
I wrote these intentionally as lyrics to a rock song, but I felt that they were clever enough to be also considered as a poem.  I wrote this during the Revolutionary War portion of my history class.  I'm a real history nerd :D

This is not a poem / its a rambling / a tangle / a hurricane of all emotions / correction! / heartbreaks /  u have inflicted. / It might have been okay / if / you were sorry / instead of laughing as the pieces of my heart / shattered to the ground / like crystals / casting not a rainbow / but a shadow / on my bedroom wall. / Is there a happy ending? / Only time will tell / you will know when the grass turns blue / the sky turns green / and this becomes a poem.

You're always on her arm
And you never look at me
Even though I try to catch your eye
You look the other way
And although I’ve never had you
I had you in my heart
These nightmares I’ve been dreaming
They’re my works of art
You have had the honor
Of being in my mind
Not only just apart of it
But every second timed.
Now the questions I’ve been asking
“Where do I go from here?”
“Do I keep you, do I stay?”
“Or do I let you go?”

I guess I just have to
I guess I’ll just miss you
I guess I’ll just have to carry on and forget you.

But I don’t see how
Anyone could
When you fall in love with a guy
Like you
