Ineffable,I'm almost petrified
watching you blossom into a fetching young
maiden
Would it be so selfish of me to want to keep you
all to myself

And shield you from this sometimes painful
world?
woebegone yet at times a place of
kindness
though that be untoward

Truth be told
you are only mine erstwhile
a storm brews in thy heart
the same heart that feels summery to the
sound of your mellifluous giggles and laughter

Its almost terrifying how you take after me
the same dreamy eyes,mountainous ambition
and a passion inexorable
it wouldn't be so wrong to re - live my youth
through your eyes
as you brace yourself for your maiden voyage
into the untamed cosmos

For everything there's a season
dare throw caution to the wind and let you be
praying what little I have instilled in you will be
light in times of darkness
or else experience be the best tutor.

When I found my voice
suddenly everything had meaning
I found my purpose
thoughts were no longer random
but a systemized way of motioning
dreams into reality

My voice had been lost somewhere
in the dungeon of self-doubt,
had to free myself, had to escape in
pursuit of happiness
along the way,there were battles
encountered and obstacles to
overcome

But my focus was centered on success
not on will-power it wouldn't be enough to face the rough
terrain of disappointment and words that break

I had to master courage from within
while feeling confident fighting off
conflicted ideas of those that looked down
on me with lowered eyes as if i didn't matter
I couldn't settle, I didn't,kept going and growing

I acquired knowledge with each new level
and wisdom wasn't too far,
disapproval from others fueled my persistence
I persevered even when it looked hopeless
It was necessary to forge ahead,
it was mandatory to believe when those close lost faith,
failure was not and still is ,not an option.

Sit me next to her beneath
the same dark cloud
that hovers and fulminates,
grey and gloom.

Let me feel the pain and aches
of weary bones in a putrid soul,
drench me in echoes of groans
and moans
of a body that writhes and twists in
violent jerks
rejecting the very life pined over
and prayed for.

The windows to her being
a misty-haze, downcast,
extirpating what zeal is left
forever longing for that one day
when feeling will be extrinsic.

They huddle beside her,craving
her touch,
once warm and soothing
now flaccid and frosty,
as if they too, sense their mother's
demise creeping nearer to thee,
savoring each moment as if it were
last.

The hushed whispers of a voice broken,
tormented by watchful eyes of thy fruit
of the womb,
pleading and begging for her
perpetual breath lest they be mother-less.

Let me wail with her
when she weeps for her children
when she curses the past and admonishes
the future depriving her,her heart's
importune,
allow me to impale her clattered mind,
pick through her thoughts to understand
and not judge.

On her death bed,discouraged
she waits,
only fate can take away...

Woman In The Mirror

Woman in the mirror stares back,
at  pained confusion of a
distraught soul,
transfixed as if in a trance

what years and aging effected.

Thy plumpness and roundness
receded,
leaving behind a withered frame
for a body

mourning prized possessions envy
of all who once admired.

Woman in the mirror you couldn't
be so wrong,
beauty does fade,the person
within stays the same,

don't pity me,oh my oh my my...

This body is a celebration of life
of a young girl who played in the
backyard,making mud-pies,
caking her face with dirt,
giggling and laughing no dreams yet

and when she became a woman
she had so much ambition and passion
noone could stop her even if they tried

Such delightfulness, an opportunity to
create life in one's womb
to hear the first cry of a babe
having its mouth suckle at one's breast
while their small eyes look back at you
for assurance you will always be there
woman in the mirror, every wrinkled line
bears testimony
of beauty that lies within,

not even the hands of time can erase.
