Uncharted
As hours sweep
Days unfold
Moments entwine
Tangled

We call out greetings
They acknowledge and smile
But quickly move along
Uncharted

Deep down is the hidden treasure
Trembling heart and quivering soul
Flanked by icy thoughts that refuse to warm

Submerged

Said Soul
"When your vows have finished feasting upon themselves

I will be here.

When Anger's Storms subside

I will be here.

When the Chameleon mimicry is stilled by truth

I will be here.

I am very patient."  Said her Soul.

Just Beyond the Glass
The girl in the glass

Sought beyond her beaten path

And found another girl

Just beyond the glass

Searching as well

The one looking into the other

Hesitant but curious

Wary but eager
Walking Down
Richard’s Road
A salty breeze
Welcomes him home
The lost returns
A child again
A bare footed heart and Soul

Pretty Roadside flowers
Your tiny heads bent in
Evening Prayer
Kindly remember our names
As your fragrant blessings fill the air

Setting sun’s
Rosy glow
Pouring through
Weathered Birch trees
Rose Coloured light
Flickers through
Warming leaves and his  memories

Pretty Roadside flowers
Your tiny heads bent in
Evening Prayer
Kindly remember our names
As your fragrant blessings fill the air

Evening Falls
Soft and cool
Taking his hand
They walk once more
Down over cliffs
Red and high
Yes they walk once more
Down to Richard’s Shore

*Pretty Roadside flowers
Your tiny heads bent in
Evening Prayer
Kindly remember our names
As your fragrant blessings fill the air
Blight was found on her roots
It would give rise to a most loathsome shadow
I was given 4 random words (blight, rise, roots, shadow) and was instructed to write a poem as long or as short as I desired.  The above is what I came up with.

There is Beauty to be Found
There is beauty to be found when we take time to sift through the ruins

But it takes courage to handle broken shards of what once was

And it takes willingness to feel the pain

Shed the tears

Howl at the moon

No precious stones or metals here

Just clay, breath, blood and bone

We must become our own alchemists

Heat our own precious life

With the fires of passion and desire for our own sake

For what good are we to the world

If we are no good to ourselves

My Own Dry Bones
And I will say to my own dry bones...
I will breathe new breath upon you and you will come to life
Embrace love and dance wildly by the sea once again

Shadows Don't
Shadows don't come knocking

They just come right through the door
Caution! Prudence! They don't like to be ignored.

And if you turn your back upon their brazen stare
They'll overturn your table and every blessed chair

They'll open every window, every door, in every room
They'll hide your dust pan far away from your broom

Then what will you do with all of that mess
Left lying on your floor to be viewed by your guests

Shadows don't care if they are inconvenient

They salt sugar bowls and they'll spill juice
There's no keeping order with shadows on the loose

They don't care if company's coming and they're not ruled by time
And they don't give a tinker's dam for any deadline

And they'll rant and they'll rave through the night and all day
They're a part of the whole, and they will have their say

So you may as well resign yourself and make a *** of tea
For those will be long nights for Shadow, God and Thee
"What is it you're really about anyway?"*

Why?
Why is it you want to know?
Is it the words that flow off my tongue
Or my actions that have stirred up this need for clarity?
In your mind, do I require pigeon holing?
Why?
So you can sort through the assemblage of me
Keep what pleases you and throw the rest away?

How sad ... for us both

As the World lies Asleep
The world lies asleep
Under rainy skies
But not I

I roll along
On darkened streets
And I wonder as I drive

Oh I wonder ...
Where is the Lightning and the Thunder

Why is there only rain today
Why is there only rain
Why is there only rain today
Why is there only rain

The Wind Called Out My Name
"The Wind called out my name and tugged and pulled at the hem of my skirt, refusing to be ignored.

Annoyed I turned on my heel,
"What do you want?" rushed off my tongue "I'm very busy"

The Wind sighed "You use to open your door to seek me, to smell me, to taste me.
You use to loosen your hair free from your hair combs just to have my scent flow through it.
But for some time now you've been lost to me, and to your own nature.  I've come to reclaim you."

"Thank you." was all I could say...

One with Ivory Bone
Let me dig deep into your soul

Become one with Ivory bone

Know the harmony

Of your blood's song

Find the place where I belong

Let my footsteps echo in your mind

Journey with you through space and time

Let me turn you inside out

Breathe the breath from your sweet mouth

After the Dark of Winter
At dawn’s rising
Soul stirs
It travels the expanse of body
Lighting fires
Whispering delicious words to inspire
Making  flames leap higher
So high and hot
As breath leaves lungs and lips
The smoke of breath
Hits the air

Silky and alive

Awakened limbs undulating
Find freedom from cover
Feet hit the floor
Body rises
Hips sway with purpose
And with every stride
You heat the air
And claim it with your scent
You own this space

Alive by God!

Alive!

In Loving Me
Two phrases that have power to shut me down

Are One day we will and Someday we will.

Early on, life taught me One day and Someday

Rarely, if ever come.

So in loving me
If you choose to love me

*Let us share with each other the gifts and delights of today
And let One day and Someday
Be what they shall be.

Perhaps it Should be
If it isn't enough

That a soul doesn't know how to pretend being other than who they are

That they are a tiny bit shy around folks they don't know

That they can't help but flit about like a butterfly from thought to thought

That they dance and move to music that wells up from within them

Even though others can't hear it

That they laugh and cry as emotion moves them

If that isn't enough

*Perhaps it should be
I stood contained within the walls where I once drew small breaths and saw life unfold

Where I first broke bread and filled my cup with dry pieces of crust

A sprinkle of sugar, a measured pour of canned milk, topped with boiling water

There was little talk
Words, too, were rationed

Silence clung to his footsteps like a shadow
Stilling every tongue and quieting movements

but just outside the door

(The one with plastic wrap tacked over its broken window)
There was grass and sky, woods and river

Places and spaces I ached for

I could not have described for you the nature of those longings
To do so would have required words beyond my ken

Words I never heard

Their eyes never seemed to see what I saw
Their ears never heard what mine heard
Or if they did ...
They never shared a whisper of it with me

I was surrounded but alone
Perhaps they were too ...

Thank you
How glorious to venture outside the limitations of my own mind

Experience life through your eyes, your hearts, and your souls

Thank you for sharing your world

Mine is so much more for your opening it to me

Our Shadows
We have been taught by society to hide our dark spaces and places
In some cases we have hidden them for so long and so well
We forget we own them

**I suspect however, that our shadows never forget they own us

— The End —
