Sophie Apr 2020
I gratefully swallowed pills placed on my tongue,
the promise of sanity and happiness
and I counted on my fingers
the moments until I would know peace
But it never came.
And soon my constricted throat wouldn't take the pills at all,
and they sat in my medicine cabinet to expire
I've expired.
